  1. I just need to set it roughly to get going so I can get to a proper setup session. I guess I can do that with a spirit level and trigonometry! Graham
  2. I went into the H place today to get some bearing/stud lock. I walked in and stared round bemusedly trying to work out where to go. Within seconds an assistant came up, asked me what I wanted and directed me to exactly the right part of the store where they had exactly what I wanted! This is in direct contrast to my local Subaru dealer who won the JD Power service award 3 or 4 years on the trot. They have been appalling at calling me back for the last couple of weeks. I went in today and asked to see the boss. I was told he wasn't in and asked what I wanted. When I said I wanted to have a moan as the service was so poor, the assistant said, "oh , you'll have to come in or phone on monday." No attempt to take my name, be interested, try to help...nuffink. So Halfrauds good, Subaru bad! Graham
  3. I am replacing the upper ball joints on a widetrack car running acb10s. Does anyone know what the correct camber should be and if this relates to a specific number of threads showing? Graham (the upper wishbones have been re-powder coated and the old ball joints were in different amounts anyway, so I didn't bother to measure or count the turns!)
  4. the HiQ I use in woking has quite a sophisticated machine that seems to do a good job. Graham
  5. well I reckon one of us is in a very different universe Nige! There's clearly two parallel ones. One where the k series engine is really reliable and only a couple have gone bang ever, the other where they fall to bits at the slightest provocation! Graham PS how much do you want to bet??
  6. I think we should have a survey somehow to see how many k engines in Caterhams have gone pop in the head gasket dept. I reckon it must be tons and tons! Also (apparently) the older TD5s are now starting to exhibit a remarkably similar prediliction for the head to go walkies round the block. They have a similar 'plastic-dowel' location system to the K series. Graham
  7. forgot to say, great article and very well written by Andy (shame about the surname) Timtoms. Also nice views out of Ridgway Towers. But what about that large pasty thing in the garage? Urgh. Graham
  8. Peter, as usual you are talking complete twaddle and I have (as always) to correct you. I think you will find that those parts were actually sitting on MY shelves! Graham

    HYD / CRB

wot you need is to persuade Peter C to productionise his hydraulic clutch mechanism! Graham
  10. Just in case I gave the wrong impression, of course it is a Mick Attree car which is of the highest quality. It's a fantastic car, if I wasn't on the Subaru upgrade trail, I would look at it myself! Graham
  11. That's outrageous! Someone's just nicked a load of pics from Mick Attree's fabulous car. Graham

I have got Caterham's remote kit to try to help solve this problem. Graham

    Fans

when did that fan become an R500 fan? I thought it was the fan fitted for the SLR race cars. Graham
  14. you can find the web site here Under 17 car club. Of course it's for the U17s to learn to drive and I think you have to start kids by about 15 esle they don't make enough progress. They do start as young as 12 tho! Basically as soon as they can reach the pedals and are mature enough to cope with learning. They meet either sat or sunday most weekends between march and november at various large open places (Castle Combe, Pro-drive test track, N Weald Airfield, TRL, Bourne Airfield etc). It's quite popular, so if you want to have a chance for getting in next year, apply now! Graham PS thanks for those that have replied, I'll make contact later today...back to taking my suspension off.
  15. don't want to hijack the thread (but going to anyway) doesn't discombobulation have an 'm' not an 'n'?? Graham
  16. I am looking for 2 6x13 wheels to fit my DD supersport. I will be fitting rock hard Korean tyres to teach the kids at the U17 car club some oversteer control (AKA gooning). Graham (cheap being the operative word, but they must be straight)
  17. so what's this then, has Mic gone shy??? Just waiting for my cheese to fall apart before going Duratec! Graham
  18. I have great fun with the (my) kids on playground roundabouts. Get 4 on (not that I own 4 kids), or 3 plus oneself. getting going round with them all leaning out. Then get them to pull themselves in and they all scream! It's quite a scary effect!!! Graham
  19. I don't think it's all that costly to have TSK (for example) spray the back panel. Worth asking them. Graham
  20. did you get to the point of finding out the damage? Graham
  21. Depending on what you were doing when the belt came off, you are very likely to have more extensive probs than taking the head off will solve. I would drain the whole lot and not worry about it. ☹️ Graham
  22. How did you 'adjust' it then? AFAIK the DD rear wheel bearing has no adjustment. You just do it up FT as descrbed herein. Graham
  23. Don't you have to take off the breather pipe at the top to get the belt on in this way? Doesn't that count as a hose? Graham
  24. tried caterham parts dept? Graham
