  1. for reference, these might be the manufacturers of the drives that Burton sell. https://www.speedograph-richfield.com/shop/angle-drives/rgb1030 I imagine that Burton are out of stock as there are quite a few varieties and they are probably made to order. Unfortunately I can only recount that Speedograph Richfield's service is woefully slow. 9 weeks and counting waiting for a right angle drive and speedo cable!
  2. ISTR in the distant past when mine did this, I got them reinforced when a fabricator welded them for me.
  3. Sorry, I am going to disagree here. You don't need 720 degrees from the distributor as that's 4 revolutions of the crank - two complete cycles of all 4 cylinders. The problem with the crank trigger that you describe isn't that #1 is at tdc or bdc. It's that it is at tdc twice in the cycle. So you can have #1 at tdc, but #3 is firing. There's some basics to be got right here I think! Sorry.
  4. Thanks, didn't think of asking redline, doh!
  5. Does sound very interesting. Is the Speeduino up to the rigours of a car environment? Well they must be of course! Just curious about the 720 degree pattern. Why do you need 720 degrees, unless that is on the crank rather than the dizzy?
  6. I'm wondering what people use as a clutch alignment tool. For the type 9, I have got a handy spare gearbox input shaft (no idea where from). I bought the plastic universal one which (just about) holds the clutch plate against the cover and allows you to manually line it up. I have no idea how accurate you have to be though. Feels a bit hit and miss. The problem is that I am fitting a clutch to a spare race engine so I want to know that it's going to be lined up properly in case we end up doing a rush engine change. A knackered input shaft would do the trick (provided it's not knackered at the flywheel end #obvs!)
  7. I'd like them please, just need to check they fit my early car. Could you measure the maximum width where they fit between the tunnel and the outside please? I hope that makes sense! Graham
  8. I'm definitely interested in such things as I'm looking to move past my Lucas AB14 in the next phase of my resto.
  9. IIRC It only fits one way in that the raised lateral bit in the middle is needed to give clearance when you move the gear lever from the 1-2 plane to the 3-4 plane
  10. I have a T-line 740 and can vouch for the fact they are superb motorhomes. GLWS
  11. I used to connect a battery conditioner (CTEK) to my k-series when it was in the garage for more than a few days. The battery when I bought it was in poor shape, but I got several more years out of it doing that.
  12. I'm not close to Frome (Epsom)so it's not all that helpful, but I could rustle up a laptop to loan if noone else can help.
  13. Thanks Neil, that's very helpful experience!
  14. Yes, looking further there do seem to be quite a lot of products of similar nature. Many of them say use their cleaner first then their proofer after. Looks like about £50 worth of product. I wonder how much a new cover costs!
  15. No part number. Here's the pic. You can see the witness mark on the original on the left where the oil seal lip goes is pretty much dead on where the groove is. I'll call them when I have a spare moment today hopefully
  16. So I have looked again and there is a square drive "hole" in the end, so that's ok. You just can't easily see it from the end like you can on the other type. However that circular groove is exactly where the oil seal lip goes which isn't as per the other one and doesn't look like it would work to me, but maybe it is ok. Anyone got any thoughts on it?
  17. The boot cover on my 80s Caterham is very faded although in good functional condition. It's the canvas type rather than the more modern vinyl type material. Does anyone have any suggestions of how to restore a better black colour? Thanks Graham
  18. And it arrived next day - very impressive. Sadly it's not the right one. The shaft has a groove in it around about where the lip of the oil seal would sit and also the hole in the middle where the speedo cable square section sits is round. It looks like whatever cable fits to it fits on the outside of the shaft not the inside. I'll call them tomorrow and see if they have one that is the right one.
  19. It's interesting as I really like driving our Cupra Born, it's quite sporty. So I thought... double benefit... sporty and cheap to run. Now I think sporty and reassuringly expensive to run!
  20. And BGH Geartech came up trumps. Not cheap but an all steel shafted one is on its way to me. Good shout Andrew!
  21. You were doing well until the fuel station on the drive part!
  22. I'd like the bellhousing dirt plate please.
