  1. probably got a spare pair in the gge from where I went to ACB10 setup. Graham
  2. good choice! I would think that the BMW owners clubs would be the best source. You wont find many of the cabs. There are a few listed on the Jaymic site. Graham
  3. a word of warning, if the lambda has been in a while, you may nager the threads taking it out resulting in 2 broken lamdas! take care. Graham
  4. Donny seems much more forgiving. They don't seem to do static tests. I was there in the rad which is pretty loud (102 on a properly done static test). Admittedly I took it easy at first. By the end I was going at full chat using all the revs with no drive-by probs. GRaham
  5. Heated screen wanted for 97 DD supersport. Ideal would be black surround, but be happy with silver or no surround. Graham
  6. hope you get it sorted Steve. Warmth mau help. At least my memory of the taper was correct. How bizaare that I have been checking gbox oil level all these years and cant remember which side it is! I use a cut down alan key and a halfrauds 10mm (I think) ratchet spanner. It hasn't broken yet! Not man enough for what you need though. Graham
  7. IIRC it's a tapered thread which is shy it gets very tight if overtightened. I havent been down there for a while, but I could have sworn the level hole is on the pass side! GRaham
  8. so do you make an engineering practice good by documenting it well? Graham
  9. astounding powers of aural perception, I can't tell that a chicken is idle from its cluck. Graham
  10. R500owners.com long gone I'm fairly sure. The package that Caterham developed when the R500s were going bang was certainly belt and braces...rev limit (I think it was 9200 down to 8600), bearings, mini-apollo, cooler, rad, ecu controlled fan. They didnt really know what was going on or how to fix it, but they had to so do as it would cost them a fortune otherwise (and to some degree it did). As PC says it was the change of bearing that made the big difference. I think it's fair to say that Richard Ince spent a lot on R500 engines! Those were the days. Dont get that kind of thing these days with new Caterham developments! Graham
  11. I have mine on the other way round rather than follow the arrows. Good to see you on friday at Goodwood. How was goodwood on saturday? Graham
  12. I had visions of loadsa pipe lagging being pacakged up and taken to the post office when a visit to homebase wouldof been cheaper n quicker! Graham
  13. er, doesnt pipe insulation it cost nothing and six from a DIY shop? Even though you two are northerners, it'll still cost more to post! Graham
  14. ACB10s and CR500s are about the same price so there's absolutely no reason not to get ACB10s!! Grahan
  15. ACB10, best tyre ever for superlight!! Graham
  16. a cautionary tale in terms of other damage...the reason the bolt came out the front of my r500 engine was that the flywheel fretted its bolts away, became loose and the vibration er vibrated the bolt out the front! The engine was toast at this point. It sounds to be pretty unlikely to apply to yours, but forewarned... Graham
  17. personally I would be careful choosing tyres on purely aesthetic grounds. Depending on what you do with your car and how you drive, you may find it over-tyred at the back for a 1600 superlight. The best of course is exactly the rims you have with 6" ACB10s on! GRaham
  18. I always have a fly lead present to sort it out! Graham
  19. I had my pedal modded with a long thin plate welded from the top near the bush and onto and past the circle at a tangent to it. It makes it a bit longer which suits my rather pathetic H&T stylee! I cant recommend driving a 7 in socked feet though. Graham
  20. not convinced they are very good though! GRaham
  21. my avos have clicky knobs to adjust them! Graham
  22. wasnt it one of the things that they tried that had no beneficial effect? Graham
  23. now that was just a fantastic programme!
  24. yep, I have had a thrumming on drilled disks on my scooby and now my TVR. TADTS Graham
  25. what about just putting poppers in a diff place in the boot cover you have? Graham
