  1. Surely a Jazz isn't the way to go for funk? How much do you want for the 73 precision Ammo? Graham
  2. What 911 have you got Geoff? And back on topic, I can vouch for how much fun an SR4 is to drive! Graham
  3. Just been looking at the JGM site. Are they mobile? If so how do they remap? I've got the H&S rear sections, so would just need the fuel pump and air filter before the remap. Did your car feel much sharper after the job. I just seem to wait for ever for stuff to happen in mine! Graham
  4. Looks handy Toby, what are the mods? Graham
  5. Sorry to hear about the problem. Be interested to hear how you get on. My 2001 WRX has just turned 97k miles! It's not PPP and (as an aside) I reckon it could do with a bit more oomph! Graham
  6. mmmm, not quite what I hoped for! Hey ho. Thanks all for posting the info, interesting all the same. Graham
  7. Why not? Because it can be done? Because I'm bored and need a project?
  8. I have the same question as JF regarding ally panels. Could you use the rustoleum method with those to give a satin or mat black finish? Graham
  9. As this must now be a very well trodden path, can anyone summarise what's involved? Or if it's well documented somewhere, point me in the right direction? I'm contemplating relatively low oomph. Certainly sub 200bhp. Thanks Graham
  10. Spare chassis being refurbed (not a 7)!
  11. Thanks for all the wise words. I am now a de-panelling expert. I used a 4mm drill for 4mm rivets. I could dril some out very easily and some stuck as the drill span on the remains of the mandril. I became quite quick at spotting the stuck ones and just came back and used my centre punch on them. The panels were also sikaflexed on which made removal quite a painful job. Boy does that stuff stick! Lots of powder coat came off with the sikaflex. Makes caterham's powder coat look good quality!! The chassis is getting shot blasted and re-coated , so that's fine. All in all a fun activity. Graham
  12. want to keep the panels in good condition to go back on. Graham

    de-panelling

I have a chassis to de-panel (not a 7, but the same construction). What size drill does one use? The same size as the original holes or smaller? How long will a drill bit stay sharp? Ie how many rivets wil lit drill out? Thanks Graham
  14. This ECU is the early version of the Emerald M3DK ECU. The familiar Emerald enclosure contains a plug compatible programmable fuel and ignition ECU, with firmware options supplied to run both distributor and distributorless configurations triggered by the normal K-Series flywheel tooth pattern (36-4). This particular ECU has some significant heritage in the history of the Lotus 7 Club and the performance development of the K-series engine. The ECU was responsible for engine management duties on the original "King K" 253bhp engine fitted to Peter Carmichael's Superlight, as it competed and won in 2002's Clash of the Titans sprint showdown against Arnie Webb's K2RUM, later taking honours for the 2002 Class 5 Club sprint championship. The engine and ECU were repeatedly tested on Emerald and other rolling roads in excess of 250bhp and with a minimum 10% advantage over the best modified Caterham R500 engines throughout the rev range - the first K-series engine to produce this power output in a Caterham installation (credit owed to Dave Andrews, Roger King, Dave Walker, Ken Snailham and Brodie Brittain Racing). Compared to later Emerald ECU versions, this older model is a simpler package with simpler configuration options, but provides the same performance and drivability as the later models. The ECU software runs under Windows '98 but is largely the familiar M3DK software layout. The package includes: 1. Emerald 16 bit M3DK fuel and ignition computer suitable for K-series implementation only 2. Programming cable (requires D-Sub 9 pin serial connector on a Windows '98 PC/Laptop) 3. Both distributor and distributorless firmwares (36-4 trigger pattern) 4. Preprogrammed with a map for a 253bhp K-series (just add a £14k bespoke engine for R500 humbling performance) £250 An appropriate programming laptop can also be supplied at nominal, negotiable extra cost, if required.
  15. I can vouch for it being nice! We are down to two people going to Tignes this year and we don't have to go in half-term Graham

    Free Tivo

I am clearing stuff out and have a Tivo. Looking at ebay it's not worth the hassle of sticking up there. So anyone who wants it and can get it from Epsom is welcome to it. It was working fine when last used about 12 months ago. Dibs'ing accepted 😬 Graham
  17. Thanks again Toby. Had to register with Surrey Scoobies. Not sure how long that takes though! Graham
  18. You're not selling the old rims are you by any chance? Graham
  19. Hi Richard, I might be interested. Can you tell me in what part of the country the car is for viewing purposes please? When you say needs 1/2 chassis, is that a long front end? Also what is cat 4? Is that the same as Cat D? Thanks Graham
  20. ahh, precision reading of my comment required - apologies. This was what I quoted from your post... My reply was... If I'd been disagreeing with the "identical" part, I'd have said "er, no they aren't" So I was disagreeing with the "cost several hundred pounds" here £85 from Amazon. However while we are on the subject, looking at the Halfords webby and the torque wrenches there, I can't find any identical looking ones on the Norbar webby. However, you are probably right. Graham
  21. Norbar TruTorque TT300 from Amazon (yes!). Fantastic bit of kit. Graham
  22. er, perhaps check the title...XJ6
