  1. I can vouch for them being rather nice! NCJASC Graham
  2. why is that weird? It is a race car after all. Graham
  3. the trouble is that unless you can really get bulk temperature into the engine, the coolant and the oil at the same time, it's not going to be very effective.
  4. I think it depends on what you need to achieve. If you have a road engine that heats up and you want to reduce the time, then I don't think an oil heater is really going to get you far. The coolant heater is the kenlowe one here). It circulates as well as heats coolant. So together with the oil heater it can do a job. You need a good hour to make a sensible difference plus a good supply of amps. Power in the paddock can be a challenge! GRaham
  5. yep we use those on a Radical. Depends on what problem you are trying to solve. They do work to warm up the thing they are attached to. But if for example you do heat up a wet sump then you have all the cold things that cool it down - like coolant. Or oil in a cooler that's cold. We have a coolant heater as well (as a dry sump heater) and if you use them both and run the engine some to circulate the fluids the heaters do work. Of course you have a radiator and oil cooler that are both trying to cool them down again! HTH GRaham
  6. It does the job well, but I think that whole gas-mask affair is pretty hateful. I'm told the scoop is particularly effective with regard to bags of cement on the road and that the air filter in the gas-mask is not very effective! Grahan
  7. Quoting Pendennis: Can't comment on the Jedi front end strength, but we have seen 999cc Jedi Mk6 comfortably win single seater races at Brands, lapping in low 46's which is similar pace to a well driven PR6 1300 and a 1500 SR3 busa, so they must have pedigree. Be down to set up, tyres and the good old pedaler And an astonishing lack of weight.
  8. Thanks, that makes sense. I was wondering with a twin axle trailer whether any balancing was needed as there are 4 bowden cables being pulled? Graham
  9. I forgot to get brake adjustment instructions from BJ. Does anyone have them in electronic form I could have? Thanks Graham

    Winter Tyres

on mytres, I'd expect a good brand winter tyre and steel rim on 13" would be about £70 IIRC the 16s are 205x45x16. Tyres only from mytyres are over £100 each for decent brands (eg dunlop). Graham

    Winter Tyres

That's a poor choice of wheel from snow/traction perspective. Higher profile smaller dia rims be better. What about a set of 13" steelies and tyres from mytyres.co.uk? Graham
  12. Quoting Johnty Lyons: IMHO the G forces on a Caterham engine with the cars legendry road holding will ALWAYS create serious surge and starvation in any wet sump car. then Quoting Pendennis: we all agree with you But there is no way that sump should of allowed oil starvation Am I just being stoopid?
  13. Quoting Stationary M25 Traveller: Managed to change mine last week without spilling a drop. Unscrewed the filter by hand (can feel it a couple of days later though !). Whole job half an hour start to finish. Happy with that Wow you must have a herculean grip to do that!
  14. There's also open loop I understand which is pretty horrible but I think is what Radical used to run. Rather than sense position and react accordingly, going up, you cut throttle for a fixed time and then give it a fixed length shove and hope it goes into the next gear. Now they run a closed loop system built into the Life ECU. Graham
  15. Quoting Mike Biddle: Is rev matching on downshifts possible with a sequential box without disengaging the clutch? I don't think so, but I could be wrong. Can't speak for a "proper" seq box, but the Radical paddle system blips on the way down (Hyabusa) and is clutchless. Graham
  16. What about the radical V8? It is getting used in quite a lot of applications now outside of radicals...eg S American Touring cars. It would also seem to have got super reliable this year judging by watching them race alongside us in our lesser radicals. Powertec Ted is a nice chap and very approachable too. ETA I think there was one in a old-stylee mini at the Brands mini festival this year. Graham Edited by - Gridgway on 15 Nov 2012 22:58:23
  17. It's ok because Superlite Style Wheels are still a going concern. Graham
  18. Sounds fantastic. I'm not in the market, but I'd love to see some pics! Good luck with the sale. GRaham
  19. I don't think I was questioning *their* motives!
  20. cost £529, selling for £600? Nice opportunism if so.
  21. don't think a sixer would fit would it?
  22. If it was actually a bmw 2002, I'd be interested
  23. I don't see it as stretching DVLA rules, but as actually being not represented properly. I understand that it's clear that it's not a 66 S3 lotus when you look, but I don't even like it in the title. Mind you I suspect that I have stretched the BC rules on what you can say on a FS thread, so I better go now! Graham
