How did you choose them? - there seem to be several variants of them that all look much the same yet prices vary! The lumens output is a little less than the Classic Car LED replacement bulb for the 7" lens so it should all be down to the beam spread/focus?

Thanks Ezzer - You are quite right about how the reflectors work! Leaning towards the Wipac Freeform at the moment unless someone else has a better idea!

Thanks Jonathan - have responded. Any advice on which 'lens' replacements to consider? Have come across three in my searches this evening; 1 Wipac Freeform (looks as though the improvement is down to the front lens being shaped to focus the light?) 2. Wipac Quodoptic (looks as though the reflector is shaped to focus the light?) 3. Cibie units which I ran out of time to investigate further! They do seem more expensive though! Any others?

Just started thinking about sorting my lights out this winter - has anyone tried something like these LED lamps? Would they require changes to the wiring/Relays etc. Seem to have come down in price significantly and adverts suggest they are a straight swap? Would they fit into the standard headlight casing? Or these Xenon? Although I think they need to be self levelling and also have a lens cleaning system, so nit sure they would comply! I presume the Wipac 'Crystal' or 'Freeform' are better then the standard Caterham ones as the reflectors (or lenses) are 'profiled' to focus the beams better? Do they fit into the chrome bezel in the same way the standard Caterham reflectors do? Should I think about it like this in terms of improvements: - a brighter bulb would make a small improvement - next best is something like a good LED bulb - next step up is a new reflector with a better bulb (and even better with a LED bulb?) - best improvement achieved with a full LED lamp like in the first paragraph? Hi James Just read through this thread with interest - it is a tricky decision to make and it is difficult to compare. It seems that all Caterhams have their own unique attributes with no two being the same! Also so many variables with respect to gearboxes, diff ratios etc which change the way it feels/drives! I have a Sigma SV with just under 200bhp with a longer 1st and 2nd in my type 9 box and love it. It revs freely and sounds great! I have not driven a Duratec and mine back to back to really appreciate the differences, but largely agree with the comments expressed! Sounds like it will be great to build it with your dad and you will obviously enjoy it irrespective of which car you build. For me I would think hard about what you want from your car and then look for the best fit. If you go Sigma you must speak to Stuart at Premier Power. If you want brutal torque, then consider the Ecoboost for Duratec money or go for the Duratec for less torque but with different characteristics to the Ecoboost! Hi Andy Her is a Link to a recent post with some pics showing the principle of the fixing - they have been used with several types of mirrors! I am on holiday for two weeks from Friday so am probably not going to have time to get to my garage to take any pics of my set, but send me a personal mail if you would like to see some pics and I will certainly do it on my return. Welcome Mike - probably not very helpful - do not know the details and not near my car, but I would take one of your screws out and then you can measure the diameter and length etc - if you have some metric nuts to hand you could check the thread that way? Have you considered trying to get hold of some of those mirror mounts that fix to the door hinges - a few different types have been made over the years - I have a set which I do not use because like others noted above I discovered I do not like driving with the doors off!! may be too late as you have ordered the mirrors! Probably a bit late now, but a smart phone endoscope would allow you to take a peak inside?

Jeff at HWR recommended I used an octane booster if I cannot get 98 for my upgraded engine - he supplied me some which I have used from time to time when abroad - I do not have a view on what it does!! I cannot recall what it is called but will try and remember to look next time I am in the garage!

No longer using my Starcom so have stripped it out of my car. Includes digital unit, two bluetooth units, two yellow headsets (one working intermittently), two helmet sets (now removed from helmets) and a volume control. Looking for £120 + p&p for the lot. Garth
