  3. Hi jskyrme! YHM. Am very interested - just a few questions! Garth
  4. Thanks for the help - had a great day at Goodwood with no heating problems!
  5. Thanks - run it up to full temp fan kicks in ok, temp and coolant level stable. Is it usual for the coolant to flow into the top of the expansion tank when revving? Edited by - Garth on 6 Sep 2012 21:03:00
  6. Thanks - I did try and so that - the main hose that runs from the top of the radiator actually rises above the expansion tank and cannot really fill that. The radiator is full and I filled the system through the top heater pipe until it was just filling the header tank. Will run for a while and keep an eye on it. Am I correct in assuming that any air will work its way into the expansion tank? Edited by - Garth on 6 Sep 2012 20:22:30 Edited by - Garth on 6 Sep 2012 20:38:43
  7. Checking car over before a track day tomorrow and discover (at 6.30pm!) that a plastic 'T' piece is split and leaking! Managed to get replacement and coolant - have replaced and filled up. Disconnected the top hose to the heater and bleed nut on top of ali radiator (did a conversion from standard Sigma set up to R400 rad after rad failed, so no self bleed pipe any more. Not sure how to check if the system is full or whether there is still loads of air in there? Any advice welcome please. Cheers

Trying to find BGH and SPC contact details - is it BGH Geartech in Kent? Ditto for SPC - is it SP Components Ltd in Redditch?

    What upgades?

I will be spending some money on tuition, just feel that it would be good to have some more power and make sure the rest of the set up is optimum? Do feel 1st runs out very quickly? Had some time with an instructor on a track day earlier this year - has plenty of experience with Caterhams ans he felt that the standard callipers were generally good enough for track days!? Caterham 'flat floored' and set up the suspension for me.

    What upgades?

Am planning to have work done to my Sigma 125 in the Autumn. Have pretty standard set up with adjustable shocks and 15" CR500's. Hope to have the Engine re-worked to head to somewhere near 190bhp. Also considering the following; - 13" wheels for track days - will lower the car a little but this should be ok on tracks? - Have Sierra diff which is quiet enough, but 'backlash' not too good - thinking of converting it to LSD - would appreciate advice on ratios - see lots written on the forum but do not really understand where to go with this - Have 5 speed box - also see many posts about ratios but also not sure where to go with this - will probably stick with wet sump with some modifications? - not convinced it is worth going to upgraded brake callipers, probably just better pads?? Generally do 4 or so track days a year and as much blatting as possible. Cheers
  12. Thanks for the advice so far - will go for a new appropriate ECU with the upgrade and will probably not worry about a dry sump as I only do a few track days! John - when did you do your upgrade?
  13. What did Raceline do for you John?
  14. Martin - I will let you know how I get on. Have spoken to Phil and he is very positive about what he has done - hoping to pay him a visit soon,
  15. Few reasons...Emotional as I built mine and so want to try and keep it. Also jointly owned and other owners will probably not want to buy again as they hardly use the car!
  16. Starting to make serious enquiries about upgrading my Sigma 125 to something approaching 200bhp. Have read various posts and will be talking to Jeff Wilson of HWR Motorsport on Phil Morris' recommendation. Also want to go and see the set up at Premier Power. Keen to keep the reliability?! Is there anyone else I should speak to? - am in London, so close by would be good! Also any other suggestions as to what I should do to my car would be great - basically do a few track days a year and enjoy blatting. Have a standard Roadsport with adjustable shocks. Thanks in advance! Edited by - Garth on 5 Feb 2013 22:48:09

    my 1st 7 build

Make sure your large torque wrench (for the rear drive shaft nuts) does left and right threads as mine only worked in one direction (forget which!) and I ended up stripping the thread - expensive mistake!
  18. Am starting to explore options to upgrade my Sigma 125 and was wondering if anyone has gone for an upgrade from Premier Power or has any experience of dealing with them?
  19. Have just bought the MiniDVR HD Bullet Camera System from dogcam. Have not had it strapped to the Caterham yet, but early fiddling has produced good results. Do not forget that dogcam offer 5% off for club members!
  20. My plastic top (and bottom!) rad only lasted for about 6 months from new last year - in Sigma 125 - replaced it with the all aluminium Caterham R400 rad even though the feeling is the newer plastic versions are better - peace of mind decision for me!
  21. Hi Phil - just wondering how you are geting on with your upgrade - are you up and running yet?
  22. Toby I think the existing one has a much longer threaded section (?) so not sure the one you have ordered will reach without some adaption! Let me know how you get on! Garth
  23. Mine stopped working the other day, a bit of fiddling and adjusting the strike plate so that it makes contact at 90 deg seems to have sorted it out!
