  1. Planning on being at the fish and chip run will look out for you - my 7 is green with yellow stripe and I will be with my son who is taller than me and bald! Two Steves' map is definitely smoother and they eliminated the 'overrun' fuel which causes the popping and banging (which I missed!)
  2. Delighted to hear it works - let me know how it feels as it was re-mapped by the two Steves!
  3. Hi Martyn - staring to make sense now - thanks
  4. Thanks Jonathan - now understand the colours. I can trace most of the numbers from one connector to another, but there are some which seem to terminate in-between 'junctions' on the loom diagram. What happens to these? They are also 'grouped' i.e. WK 26/27/28/50 - cannot all be to earth as some numbers appear on another connector and the coolant temp sensor wires both go to one of these loom midpoints! Hope someone can shed some light?

    Sigma CAM sensor?

very helpful thanks and may also explain poor emissions!
  6. Thanks for the comments - it is a Sigma engine - will have a go at it this weekend!
  7. The cable to my crank sensor has been damaged ☹️ - have found an auto electrician who can do a proper repair. In the meantime can I just cut the wires and re-join them to see me through the next few weeks? I cannot see why not!? Thanks
  8. Hi Jonathan - have sent you mail as have not learnt how to post photos etc on blatchat!

    Sigma CAM sensor?

Hi Mackei23b - sorry do not fully understand! (not unusual!). Would the cam sensor then enable the ECU to adjust the timing of the injection for each cylinder? How critical would it be to get the cam sensor working? I cannot find whether or not the original MBE ECU has a specific input for the cam sensor, not much info on the MBE website!? The Omex 600 does not have a specific input for the cam sensor , but could one use an auxiliary channel? Thanks. Garth
  10. Trying to understand the symbols on the Caterham electrical layout for the 'Engine Harness'? Not clear - to me! - what all the symbols are and they do not all seem to terminate in obvious places? Edited by - Garth on 9 Apr 2014 11:37:10
  11. Trying to understand what the Cam sensor does? To do with timing I believe, but my recent upgrade (which uses an Omex ECU) has done away with it and been told the Crank sensor is all that is required - whereas the Standard MBE uses both! Thanks
  12. Loving my recent upgraded Sigma by HWR, but have some damage to the loom - looks like it might be mice! - and would also like to tidy up the rest of the loom - it is a standard OMEX loom, so most of the wires are much too long! Any recommendations for a good Auto Electrician who could sort it our for me? Thanks Edited by - Garth on 31 Mar 2014 22:13:48

    deDion wheels

Oops - not thought of the offset - what should it typically be? Looks like I go for 108mm PCD. Delbert - I am looking to put a set of old academy tyres I have on the rims to use for messing around with so CR500's are a bit too grippy! Therefore want to spend as little as possible!!

    deDion wheels

I am looking for a spare set of cheap 6Jx13"rims for my car but not sure what the PCD should be for our cars - can someone please advise. Thanks Garth

    Garage doors

Thanks for all the responses - I have found a very local firm who manufacturers their own doors and come with a 5 year warranty - running gear is made by a well established UK firm too. Cost around £1300 but I will need to fit - just waiting to hear from one more company otherwise decision made!

    Garage doors

Am hoping to order a roller shutter door for my new garage asap. Have done a little research and the SWS SeceuroGlide Excel seems to be a good door. They also have an option to install a device which will call your mobile phone if the door is opened which seems quite a good security feature? I have tried 3 online stores and they are all quoting almost exactly the same price! Any pointers as to where might be a good place to try and get decent quote - I have tried the Garage Door Centre, Garage Doors online and Access Garage doors. thanks Garth
  21. My understanding is that the oil should spend most of its time at a temperature between about 80 and 100 degC. I would experiment with blocking off some of the oil cooler as you suggest and also make sure the oil you are using is not to 'heavy'/'thick' as this can give good oil pressure readings, but reduce the oil flow!? Not sure how to compensate for the different locations of temp senders? Mine is in an oil filter sandwich plate - but may be a bit cooler in the dry sump?
