  1. That is about right for the fitting - From memory I think the flat section which is riveted to the chassis is meant to slip between the rubber trim and the sill protector and you may even have to over drill the central hole slightly to ensure the spike goes into the fixing far enough! So in cross section you would have side skin/rubber trim/arm rest fixing/sill protector/chassis. If in doubt speak to Oxted as they were very helpful and showed me how I had fixed mine incorrectly (I had my arm rest fixing between the side skin and the rubber trim. Garth
  2. Two aims I guess. First is to get rid of the deposits and then secondly try to keep it running clean. I would like a better understanding of the implications of having carbon deposits on the piston heads etc and how to keep them clean! My gut says it should perform better if the combustion chamber is clean? Running a Sigma on throttle bodies at about 200 bhp. Engine builder said Tesco Momentum 98 was good. Ran it for a while on that, but then moved to Shell V-power as easier to find Shell stations! Have done several thousand miles in Europe, so used high octane fuel there. Would like to see a test with Terraclean where they check the condition of the combustion chambers etc. before and after the test with a borescope. Tempted to see if Terraclean would let me check the condition after the clean and only pay if it is clean in there! Have always been skeptical about these sorts of products, but used Redex on an 8 year old Honda CR-V I bought (after seeing Jason Plato's 5th Gear video about trying to regain some of the power from an old Carrado). After using it on 4 tanks of petrol my fuel consumption had improved by 40 to 50 miles a tank! Garth
  3. Do high octane fuels tend to leave more carbon deposits?
  4. Have a fair build up of carbon on top of my pistons which I am keen to get rid of! Came across this product recently. Does anybody know if it works? Thanks Garth
  5. I think Premier Power have developed a dry sump for the Sigma (not come across any others!?). Drop them a line. No idea about the diff! Garth
  6. Thanks for the heads up - will check it out. Garth
  7. Hi Alan Standard Caterham 8 spoke anthracite rims - 6” on the front 8” on the rear. Running Avon ZZS’s with 185 x 55’s on the front and 215 x 55’s at the back. I am much more comfortable with this combination compared to the 15” 195’s I used to have and feels much more planted! Do probably not need 215’s at the rear, but they look so much more purposeful! Had to adjust the ride height accordingly. Cheers Garth
  8. Hi Jason Caterham changed my wheels during my build (6 years ago now!) so cannot see why they would not change them for you ages before delivery? Do make sure you get the correct sized cycle wing stays as already mentioned. I started on 15" rims (thought they looked better?) but am now on 13". More tyre choice and easier to get hold of cheap tyres and rims for smoking up whilst giving joy rides (officially allowed at the Super Car event - honest). I do prefer the feel of the 13" compared to the 15" on track too. Good luck. Garth
  9. I guess I should have done this Alan! Good luck - hope you got your new tyres sorted and have a great trip! Garth

    Wing Mirrors

I had these made up which work really well (better with smaller mirrors!) no more 'shake' than the standard IVA post mounts and doors open fully!

    15" Wheels

Hi Alan I have a set of Caterham anthracite 15" rims (off my de Dion SV) that are in very good condition if you were interested?
  13. Parts at Caterham are now refusing to replace my pedal FOC saying it is outside the warranty. Have written back explaining that I do not see it as a warranty issue - rather as a manufacturing defect (as helpfully outlined above!) Am prepared to take this further simply because it is wrong and I find it difficult to understand when a company cannot acknowledge that something was wrong when it so clearly is....!
  14. Hi Mark - hope all is well - I will have 6 of the CR322's please - for the Super car event! Can you hang onto them until I can arrange to collect them as I will not be able to take them from Dunsfold easily. Thanks. Garth
  15. Hi Paul - I would be interested if it does not work out with you Giles -would also need to check the size and dealing with the 3 phase supply! Thanks Garth
  16. Hi Gordon - have responded to your mail - just need to arrange payment and collection please.... Thanks. Garth
  17. Very interested in the headlights please - do they have much rust on them? any chance of a photo or two? have sent you my e-mail address by member mail! Thanks Garth
  18. Have you looked at the Compomotive CXR's. I think they are also lighter than the Caterham rims and we know they fit! Speak to Simon at Meteor Motorsport if you have any queries?
  19. Hi Steve Am interested - any chance of sending me some photos? Will send my email address. Have the ZZS's been on the track or road miles only? How much tread left more or less. Thanks. Garth
  20. Looking for a set of these wheels as moving over from 15" rims to 13"

Hi Matt First time I have been spotted!! I saw you and waved back (I hope!!) you were supporting a roof box! Think we were on the same stretch of tarmac for a while. I had just picked my 7 up from Northampton motorsports and sadly had to blast home on the motorway to get back to work in Wimbledon. Take care. Garth
  22. Picked up my Sigma from Troy today after he had given it a health check and then had it on the rolling road. It has not been running brilliantly recently (was rebuilt by Jeff at HWR in Newcastle 2 years ago). Running so much better now, starting from cold easily (tried it three times throughout the day!), water and oil temperatures now good. Idling well. Looks like apart from the map needing some improvements, the thermostat was not operating properly and the TPS was also 'hunting' a bit so needed to be replaced! Troy was very helpful in explaining various things to me. Thanks Troy - it is a pleasure to drive again! Garth
  23. I think I am correct in saying that the 6 speed box was developed and designed by BGH, so it may be worth having a word with them - I have one of their rebuilt type 9 5 speed boxes and am very happy with it!
