  1. This a long shot but the girl's details may be on 1909 census records if she was in her early 20's when she died. I have had a look at the census and there are some census records on there but you have to do a search on place rather than name or address. You have to then pay to see the results at £5.00 for 500 credits. I dont know whether you may get access through ancestry.com if you are a member of this. Also a great way to find out is that if someone hung themselves it would definately be in the news articles of the area for that time or the parish records. Sounds intriguing. *smile* *smile* Loving the country life...
  2. Thank you all, Alex made sure I had a fantastic birthday *smile* *smile* *smile* *smile* *smile* despite being surrounded with dust and building materials in the house. I welded a lump hammer and set about demolishing some tiles and then helped demolish a coal shed wall. Smashing stuff...(I know I know I impressed you with such shining wit there?!). *tongue* So all in all it was a blast... Thank you again Miss Pickle Edited by - Pickle on 8 Dec 2006 09:34:28
  3. No worries...it looks like we might have a bathroom suite being delivered so the guest room might have an ensuite bathroom anyway! Hopefully the builders will be starting at the end of November all being well, so you will have to come down at Christmas/New Year sometime. I think we will have to have some sort of party....any excuse! Pickle :o) Loving the country life...
  4. Thanks Viv...../I think it would be best on Saturday night. If anyone wants to stay we do have some space but bear in mind, tis very sparse! Please email Alex if you would like to come, so I can get some food and drink in... Cheers Pickle :o) Loving the country life...
  5. So would anyone be interested in some food and bangs at ours in Ystradgynlais....coud be sort of a housewarming party as we havent had one yet since moving in. The house is a bit of a state before the builders come in. Pickle :o) Loving the country life...
  6. Perhaps Al and I will be stood round the incerator in the back garden with a hot toddy or two waving our sparklers then...think Usk is a little too far. Hmm wonder if anyone would come over to Ystrad if there was an offer of food and some bangs? Pickle :o)
  7. Blimey Mav...maybe we should call you Guy Fawkes instead...have you got any ideas to blow up any parliments by any chance with that stash? 😳 All I have to do is feed Alex with cabbage and wait for the small explosions.... *eek* Pickle :o)

Is anyone in South Wales organising any firework displays with sizzling sausages 😳, things that twirl round that we can go oooohhhh at and plenty of warming ale? Cheers
  11. Next time try some chilli....I know from personal experience that is a killer. I have some cucumber and melon soothing lotion...doesnt smell of the evil thing but is so cool!

  15. There are some great places close to Blair Athol/Pitlochry area. My gramps was from the area and I know the area very well. here This might give you some ideas. Blair Athol has a fantastic castle, beautiful walks along the river, great wildlife and close by is the distillery for a bit of the Highland Mist. Another place I can recommend is Oban. Some fantastic places to visit nearby, you can take a boat to the islands from here also. Great sealife centre and also a wildlife park, which are fantastic for kiddies to explore. Also another distillery which produces a great single malt.I used to stay just outside of Oban at a place called Benderloch. Brilliant for trout fishing if that is your thing. The local reservoir close to this area is amazing for wildlife, I saw my first wild cat and eagle close up here. If you fancy something slightly remote, then you could try and get permission to visit the isle of Rhum, which is a conservation island. I went here after my degree for a bit of a break. You can do loads of walking here and unwind. Let me know if you need any information on any areas, as I have been to quite a few places in Scotland over the years.
