  1. James can I request first dibs on one of the sets please? I have a friend who is looking for a set but is on hols I think till end of this week. Wud prefer the A021 set I think? Thanks Dave
  2. Thanks for the replies. So I gather then that all is well!? It's been no bother since so I guess so. I understand there is an SBD mod that can be done to combat this, is this right? Re overfilling, I fill to a few mm above the dipstick mark, following recommendations on BC so maybe the car is telling me something 😬. Cheers Dave

  4. Set of 4 silver 6 x 13" KN Minotaurs in good condition. Currently fitted with racing wets. Edit: These are de Dion Ford fit wheels. £180 + carriage if necessary. I'm in N. Essex but can deliver to Ipswich or High Wycombe area. Pictures available. Thanks Dave Edited by - Lotus Boy on 10 Jun 2006 10:57:58 Edited by - Lotus Boy on 11 Jun 2006 20:57:13
  5. Just driving back from work, was travelling very quickly behind a big bike when after a long left hand corner all of a sudden I had masses of smoke pouring from the exhaust. The car kept travelling ok as I coasted and the smoke died down, I noticed that the oil pressure read fine (just under 4 bar) and it was ticking over happily. I gently gained speed a bit more smoke was visible in my mirror but died down. I was only a mile from home and the car drove back fine. There is no evidence of oil in the engine bay, everything looks just as it should. Any idea what caused this momentary blip?? The car is a 94 VX Inj, the engine is completely standard. I was giving it charlie big potatoes at the time admittedly though pulling around 4k at the time it happened I reckon. Editted to say the car is wet sumped. Thanks for any advice or clues Dave Edited by - Lotus Boy on 9 Jun 2006 19:32:04
  6. Hi Mike, Re the LO7, don't have picture of an entire car but do have a nosecone! Will drop you a blatmail. The guy who owns the 7 works in a car bodyshop so could give you all the info you need. Dave
  7. There is only one yellow...Lotus yellow code no. LO7 !!
  8. LA will definitely not fit De Dion. PCD is indeed different. As for refurbishing - Spit and Polish and Wicked Wheels are names that are often mentioned. Don't know much about Spit and POlish but I used Wicked Wheels a while back, got mine done for £50 each but usual charge is around £65 per wheel. I lived local to their main office so got a little deal. Wicked Wheels have the benefit of being nationwide and fully mobile. Believe a large chunk of their work comes from tidying up alloys for main agents such as Audi Porsche TVR etc. Dave
  9. You could replace it with the Ford English axle (the only other LA option I believe) but I understand these are getting rarer and harder to find all the time. Someone else on here might be able to help if it was something you really wanted to do. Dave
  10. Ah, is the Triumph the same as ITAL? That might be different. Certainly available in De Dion (Ford fit). Saying that I would be surprised if they are not available elsewhere. Caterham probably won't stock them now as they have moved on and haven't been involved in ITAL live axle cars for a long time. Good luck.
  11. nev, Are you talking genuine minilites or Minatours? Pretty sure both though are readily available in 8J. For Minatours in 8J try George Polley Motorsport on 01354 688111. I know many who run 185 front and 205 rear on 6's. Dave
  12. Hi David, Could you please send pictures to davidcbateman(at)aol.com Cheers Dave
  13. Gary - assume you have seen this thread here Dave
  14. Cheers acw! two things... a) gone already! b) really want just silver for the same reason angus passed them up grrrr Cheers anyway and thanks OBNS for the heads up on price
  15. Am looking for a set 4 or 5 minilite style i.e. minatours etc for de-dion. Ideally want 6 x 13 fr and 7 x 13 rear but more than happy with 6's all round. Must be silver (all the better if with polished rims) with no kerbing and in a good tidy condition please. With or without tyres but would like to avoid buying a set of knackered tyres 'good for just a couple of track days etc' that I would just have to take off. Cheers Dave editted to say...feel free to send photos to davidcbateman(at)aol.com Edited by - Lotus Boy on 26 Apr 2006 19:40:43
  16. Egg noodles or seaweed, it was still considerably less than appetising! Interesting point about not running with one. I plan to change mine every two years even though the car is unlikely ever to see any track work. Was it just a precautionary measure put in place by Caterham to combat surge if used on track or did they think it was necesssary for road use too?
  17. Took my wet sumped 1994 VX in for a big service last week. Only had the car one year so thought it would be a good idea to do everything including replacing the foam baffle in the sump since I had no details of when it was last changed. When we lowered the pan it was with some horror to find a rather well 'rotten' and disintegrating foam baffle in the bottom . Hopefully the filter had done it's job in collecting the detached particles but I do wonder how much had been floating about and for how long? I spoke to the previous owner (one owner from new and the guy built it himself) who was not aware that the baffle was a foam serviceable item and a quick look through the build manual makes no mention of it in the obvious places. If it wasn't for Blatchat I wouldn't have been any the wiser either ❗ So two things...1) Thank you Blatchat and 2) any VX wet sumped owners who are unsure of when their baffle was last replaced I suggest you do it sooner rather than later. For the sake of £40 (£17 for baffle plus two sump gaskets - thanks for the heads up on that Arnie) I would say it is worth it. Cheers Dave
  18. Hi Paul, Did wonder if it was you. Remeber the colour scheme from when we popped round your house in your late build stages where Blade_runner fixed your battery prob. Sadly no I wasn't in mine that day ☹️ Cheers Dave
  19. Spotted in Hedingham Friday afternoon! Nice afternoon for it
  20. Cheers Arnie. Why two gaskets???
  21. Sorry bit of a numpty question but I can't get to my car at the moment. My VX is having a full service shortly and would like to replace the foam sump baffle. Is it possible to remove the sump and replace the baffle with the engine in situ? (Just thinking of chassis tubes etc - only had the car a year and I'm more of a polisher ) Cheers Dave Edit to add - I understand these have a shallow sump made specifically by Caterham do would I need to get the foam baffle from caterham or can the right one be obtained from any vauxhall dealer? TIA! Edited by - Lotus Boy on 21 Mar 2006 17:34:40
  22. Saw a gorgeous colour blue Seven coming into Halstead. GN03 *** with MB wheels. Was following a tidy 996 - were you together? Whoever you were you certainly looked very well wrapped up, but then it was blinkin' cold! Very nice car I live in Halstead, are you local?! Dave Edited by - Lotus Boy on 5 Mar 2006 21:08:11
