Hi Jules I fitted a Raceco silencer on my VX earlier this year. It was very easy to have the collector modified, I had a well known Basildon based stainless exhaust fabricators do this for me, and it cost less than a round of drinks. I was making the assumption that the washer bottle bracket under my carbs was put there for the purpose of fitting a washer bottle as a catch tank. This I am assuming because the parts manual list two washer bottles for a VX2.0 calling one an expansion bottle. Currently I only have one washer bottle (used for covering me and my screen in water when cornering on track, and to pass an MOT), an empty bracket under the carbs and the engine breath is a pipe which run only to the under side of the car. Wow the top people 😬 I have timed may A series engines, with chains and belts conversions, standard and very non standard, but this will be my first VX and first twin cam belt. Is there a good manual you would recommend (since I have no engine manual) the engine is standard so it should be a matter of following the instruction (very carefully). Also is there anyone you would recommend (in the southeast) to get a quote for doing the change, so I can way up the cost of not doing it myself. Chris.... H15 SVN Get it !

Hi All I have removed the cambelt cover to find rubber dust and the writing on the belt to be worn. So can you help with the following questions 🤔 1, Is this normal. 2, Should I replace the belt, and if so is there any other part I should replace as well. 3, What sort of ballpark cost am I looking at (assuming a local Vauxhall dealer changes the belt), or is it better for me to purchase the special tool needed for the change. I have taken some pictures here The car was built in 97, and has covered 6K miles, from the receipts I have it’s been oil changed every year, and Caterham carried out the 12K service last year. Hi all Can anyone send me a picture of the expansion bottle under the carbs, I think it is used for the engine breather vent. Currently my car does not have this bottle and the underside get covered in oil vapour when on track. In the interest of keeping slippery stuff off the track I need to fit one of these tanks. I know I could buy an expensive catch tank, but this is only a temporary measure until I fit a dry sump system at the end of the year. I think the caterham part number for this is WSB180, does anyone know what vehicle this came from, because I might be able to find one in the local scrap yard. Thanks in advance. Chris.... Halfrauds can supply a Fram Renault 4 filter, Sorry can’t remember the number, but any motor factor can match it from the Unipart number. Chris.... H15 SVN Get it !

Help - how much does a collector + silencer weigh?

It’s a switch located in your pedal box. Remove the pedal box cover and check that the switch has not come lose and need adjusting. Hope this helps Chris.... H15 SVN Get it !

Hi Stu Have you looked at a DIN 1 Radio Nav System. I have an Audi with Nav Plus and a Blaupunkt DX-70 (single din radio) installed in a New Mini, both the systems are identical in operation (apart from the big colour display). I have a 7.25 Raceco (its the dog' s blank 😬). It's fitted to a VX 2.0. I have gone over some sump touching speed bumps at the entrance to beford aerodrome, but the Raceco can cleared fine. I suppose it's down to how low you run your car. Chris.... H15 SVN Get it !

Hi Oil J Can the fuel tank vent? If you can cure the problem by opening the petrol cap, it sound like a tank venting problem to me. Have you got a charcoal canister fitted? If you have got a charcoal canister look here Chris.... H15 SVN Get it !

Both my tin-tops have ali rads cores with plastic end caps (come to think of it, they have been this way for ages) so longevity can't be a function of the ali. Unless the ali end caps make a difference, or the rad design. Chris.... H15 SVN Get it !
