  1. I am looking for the two outer plates from some K+N Weber DCOE filters, you know the plate with the letters K+N pressed into them. Condition is not important, providing they are serviceable.

  2. I think the problems where with the plastic guide pullies breaking breaking apart, not with the metal tensioner bearing, but I changed the lot. I will change pullies now every 2 cam belts, and I will change cam belts well before any service schedule.

  3. I changed the cam belt last year on my XE LN, and I changed all the pullies and tensioner. The cost of all the pullies and tensioner raised the part bill to around £110 from my local vauxhall dealer, they had everything in stock (a good and bad sign). I suppose changing them comes down to cost / risk equation that only the owner can decide on.

I have an astra manual that covers this belt change, but I am not home until Friday night, send me a email and I will scan and email if you like.

  4. The Vectra amd the MBE have no connection, although the MBE might be powered through the Vectra dependent on who installed it.

If you are looking to fit another immobiliser that fits the same hole left in your dash, try a Meta

    Hope this helps

  5. I have a 97 car fitted with a late post 93 non dizzy C20XE, and its has a different belt route, porfile and plastic belt idle pullies to early C20XE engines, but the cam pullies are metal not plastic, as is then tensioner.

  6. Hi Gary

You can compare my car with yours, because my induction noise comes from a pair of 45’s. But I had no problem during the Summer, only during a cold day in October. So I now have a number of aids to reduce this, one of them is a noise meter, and a pit to car radio to tell me to keep it down. The noise meter is well worth the investment, before you spend on anything else, because it sound like you where only just over the limit like me, and a little tweek or a warmer day is all that’s needed to avoid the noise problem.

Either way, hope to see you soon at Bedford 😬

  7. Had the same problem in October at Bedford, but had done 4 other Bedford days during the year without problem. Was it a cold day? I have invested in a noise meter from Maplins, and when the salt goes (soon I hope) I am going to do some testing so I can have a few tricks up my sleeve just I case it happens again.

I was only just over the 87 db limit, so I am going to test

    Tyre Pressures

    Low rev limits

Throttle mods, to prevent full throttle

    and air filter mods.

I feel its better to have 90% throttle and stay on the track, than taking an early bath.

If I can get that noise down, the an air box will be the next option.

    That’s my plan anyway

  8. You can either make them fit, or get the correct bulbs in the first place. I replace my clear bulbs / amber lenses with clear lenses and silver bulbs that flash amber. The silver bulbs can be found with both offset and oposite lugs but they cost nearly £20 *eek*.

  9. Ok so apart from fuses and connections you have

    Wiper switch

    Wiper controller

    Wiper Park switch

    and

    Wiper Motor

The Motor has three wires going to it which come off the park switch. take the wires off the park switch (take a not of where they go) one wire is earth, the other two are the speeds, apply 12v to a speed wire and earth and the motor should run. (is suspect it will). Then get a park switch/wiper switch from the breakers yard from a classic mini (pre 98), and test them in turn. If all this fails to cure your problem then I would suspect the controller.

If you are local I have a simular spec car you might like to test your parts on my car. I would not be happy testing my controller on another car just incase the wiper motor is blowing the controller.

  10. What age is your car 🤔

My 97 car has a controller, for Intermitant wipe, but not sure its fitted to later cars.

The Motor is normaly bomb proof (in classic minis), but I have known the parking switch (attached the the motor) to fail.

  11. Common problem is the polen (spelling *confused*) filter is not changed during servicing, or is badly fitted. Water collects in the motor assembly either because of a leak past the badly fitted filter, or the filter is so blocked that its like having the fresh air blocked off all the time.

I have seen this on two cars, the first was a badly fitted filter by a main dealer, which blow the motor, and the other was just a badly serviced car.

I suspect you will need a new filter and a new heater fan motor unit.

  12. Never drill non drilled disks, it causes stresses in the disk which could crack in use. You can replace the standard disks with drilled items, but I have never found a drilled disk for the Caterham uprated disks.

  13. Hi All

Thanks for your kind offers. *thumbup*

I am either looking for an original, or if I am going to replace the whole set I will do it with Magnecor items.

Anthony are yours coil pack versions? If they are, and you have a spare No.2 lead. I would of course make a donation to NTL. (better than making a donation to the local

    vauxhall stealer) 😬

And again thanks to you all
