  1. Does anyone have any tips for tightening the sandwich plate bolt? There's a lump inside the plate housing (top left) that's making it hard to get a socket on cleanly...
  2. Supermarket fuel is cheaper as it has less of the additives that the branded stuff has.
  3. Protech advised and supplied for 3/4 road - 1/4 track use Front - 9" X 225lbs Rear - 12" X 150lbs From my research stock springs on my 2006 Roadsport SV were Front - Eibach 75517 - 170 lb on Caterham website. 150 lb from C&L7 forum Rear - Eibach 71198 - progressive 110-130-200 lb
  4. I'm echo what Miker7 said too. It seems I spoke to Matt at ProComp shortly before he passed. He was really helpful and a lovely chap. His advise was the same, go for the Protech Shocks and go back to him if I wanted them retuning. He did also mention Quantum shocks in our chat as being more high end, and more for motorsport use, but ultimately Protech were the ones we believed would do just as well for my mix of road and track I've recently fitted a set of Protechs and I'm really happy with them. They seem like nice quality bits of kit and work well on my car. Protech have also been superb with their support through the purchasing and fitment of them too. I'd recommend them. Here's a link to the thread where I've been discussing them with specs of what I ordered
  5. Considering how badly my sump foam was degraded, have people fitted this foam in the cam cover? (I had wondered where the foam on the full kit from the Caterham Parts website went)
  6. This one? https://lowflying.caterhamlotus7.club/2001/2001_09_03_Apollo.pdf The thread I found this link from is also useful
  7. From my understanding the SV is the same as the S3 Widetrack in terms of shocks at least. This is the same as the standard Bilsteins that I removed and is what Protech recommended. It also means I should be able to use l the stock springs if I felt like it.
  8. Thanks. I'll try Redline. Good idea on the draining.i have a manual vacuum pump I could use for that which I've already used on my gearbox, so I'll keep that in mind. Cheers
  9. Thanks, that's very useful info
  10. I think that photo is on full droop, but I'll check later. This is what I ordered. They confirmed that the measurements from my SV aligned with their measurements for the S3 Wide Track. Dampers are single way adjustable 400 series Protechs. 380 Open S3 WT Caterham Front Damper 1.9", BB(12.7X35) (55mm extended top eye, their standard for Caterhams) 470 Open S3 Caterham Rear Damper 2.25", BB(12.7X35) (60mm extended bottom eye) 9" X 225lbs X 1.9 Front Spring 12" X 150lbs X 2.25 Rear Spring Yeah they're really nice shocks, and the support has been excellent.
  11. Think I've found the answer to 3) by searching Blatchat a bit more. I think it's this one https://caterhamparts.co.uk/senders/17-temperature-sender-water-all-variants-96.html?search_query=Sender&results=67 I think I was searching for sensor instead of sender on the Caterham parts site
  12. I've finally had time to fit my new Protech shocks, a few holidays and other things got in the way. The car definitely rides better now, and having the adjustment on the dampers is great. My next step is to head over to Northampton Motorsport to get the setup done. Some things I found when fitting my shocks were the front were a bit of a fiddle to get the hole lined up due to the bushes being a bit tight in the top and bottom holes. I bought one of those endoscope cameras with a screen attached recently and it was a big help with that part of the job. The rears were much easier to do, and the tip for the extended bottom eye fitting gave plenty of clearance. I did make a bit of a plonker of myself when I found the rears were a lot shorter than I'd specified, but then a quick call to Protech and they pointed out to give them a good pull and they should extend, as they did. They get compressed a bit to fit in the packaging and I never thought to pull them out longer 🤪 Very happy with the result. Some pics to help show how they fitted to the car.
  13. I've been searching the archives for info on fitting the Apollo tank to my K-Series VVC and have found some info, but some of linked info and pictures are missing or out of date now due to the changes in the site and external sites no longer hosting pics. This page is very helpful for a start though https://www.mycaterham.com/66828/67348.html However as I bought the tank and fitting kit seperately (as I didn't find the full kit on the Caterham store until just now, and it's out of stock anyway) I'm missing some bits too. 1) Is the tank drain plug an M20 x 1.5? 2) Is an aluminium drain plug OK to use? 3) What's the temperature sensor that fits in the side of the tank? I can see it's the same as the coolant temp gauge sensor on the rail, but I've failed to find this sensor on the Caterham website. 4) Someone mentioned they had managed to routing the pipes under the alternator belt, but the linked pictures were missing. Does anyone have any pictures of this routing? 5) To fit the breather into the cam cover is it a case of removing the cover, drilling an approriate hole for the threaded fitting to pass through and then tighten up the nut on the inside with thread lock? 6) Does the sandwich plate for the take off fit with the rubber gasket against the engine side? (This is my logic in this replicates the seal on the oil filter) 7) My assumption is the to fit the sandwich plate I simply unscrew the oil filter, fit the sandwich plate and tighten up the thread insert and then screw the oil filter onto the sandwich plate. Is that correct? Thanks
  14. That's a very handy sheet. Nice. So i would say mine would be Caterham Orange then. Also I just found this post that maybe useful
