  1. @Sean 270S thank you for the kind words! @JamesTiptree thanks for the update and kind words too! I wonder if new factory cars have a bit tighter wiring system than older cars, that's the only thing I can think of with respect to it being more finicky. Although the round wiring plug is (or should be) pretty accessible from the top. Fun fact: every CaterLED light actually get's installed for testing on our car, before we ship them, so we have installed/removed ~100+ lights without cutting our hands, so that's the only thing I can think of. In any case I'm glad you got it to work. I hope you had a nice cold beer afterwards for your hard work and troubles 😉 It's also a bit strange you needed to use a second green rubber washer. Even though my car is 2005 I was able to fit them on without them moving through the panels, so that's odd. The only thing I can think of was maybe you had the black lock ring on the wrong way? We aren't back home until mid next week but we'll run another test to see if we can replicate your issue. Thank again!
  2. We are back from vacation and getting caught up on orders. Another batch went out the door today, and another batch is going out tomorrow! More parts are arriving next week. We've enlisted the younger brothers to fold boxes, and count zip ties and cable clips! @Reindeer thank you for the MOT news, that is great to hear! And thank you for the photo. I love how the lights reflect off the boot cover, making us even more visible, and you can also see how small the standard 7 lights are. @PlastererPete thank you for the pics! @Andreas Reinhold thank you also for the video
  3. Indeed, thanks for the added feedback and help. It’s greatly appreciated and I love how people are so willing to help ! None of our 3-4 test cars had carpet so the info here is helpful. We’ll amend the installation instructions with a few comments about it. You definitely don’t need to remove the boot floor - at least in the dozens and dozens of times we fitted our prototypes and the real kits - just tip it up and pass the light strip under it. Maybe each model is a bit different but so far our hands and knuckles have survived unscathed and that includes testing every single kit on our car before they ship to you guys. 🙂 Maybe practice makes perfect and hopefully you only have to do it once ! Thanks again!
  4. @Reindeer interesting on the red backing tape. I haven’t come across that before. All the ones we did just peeled off. @Mrp thanks for the feedback. We tested about a dozen or so lights and overall these were the best across the board. I wish we had more control but unfortunately we don’t at these volumes. Wiring them as indicators only is an option we offer. If you want to swap yours we can absolutely do that - we’d be happy to send you a replacement set with indicators only. There is also a way to snip the small wires inside our harness if you want just message me.
  5. Haha, we thought that was funny too. We ordered a new Thule cargo roof box and that's what it came wrapped in so we thought we'd re-use it 🙂
  6. Good timing, we were just doing all the invoices as you wrote this. Thank you all !!!
  7. @PlastererPete I neglected to post the photos of the lights in different stages for you - sorry about that! So here they are. Let me know if you have any questions.
  8. Thanks. Yes quality is key. Every CaterLED gets tested on our own car.
  9. Thank you for the orders! (We should have put a question in the order form of what your forum username was - haha!!) When we first launched we had components for ~8 kits. We really didn't know how well or how poorly they would be received. Once we realized it, we ordered more parts. In hindsight we were a bit too conservative at the start but that's part of the process of launching something new. We got caught in the perfect storm of components arriving the day we left for a few days of vacation last week, but we've been blasting through the orders now and are shipping kits today, tomorrow and Thursday and that will clear the backlog including the orders placed in the last couple of days! Please reach out once you receive, if you have any questions etc. Cheers, Dave & Nic
  10. First orders have shipped! We enlisted some brotherly help to fold up the boxes.
  11. @PlastererPete Thank you for the questions. Yes I realized that I didn't post any pictures of the light under normal running condition at night and will add some tomorrow. - I'm sorry about that You are correct: each LED element has 2 intensities. One as a regular running light, one as a brake light. The 8 LEDs at the top and bottom of the strip also flash red-orange-red-orange when the indicator is turned on. Regarding the "plug and play". Think of them like you would an extension cord. Simply unplug the current connector and plug in our harness in between. The total length of the harness from end to end of each connector is ~8-9 inches. For newer cars it acts in the same way but with the twist lock style vs the econoseal style. (photos coming soon of twist lock install) Here is a picture of it installed in my car. I have taken mine in and out dozens of times as we went through many iterations of our design and testing over the past 3 months. The full installation instructions are here, so you can see the whole process: https://t.ly/r64n6
  12. Hello 7 community! We’d like to introduce CaterLED: a high level, integrated brake, indicator, and running light system designed for Caterhams and 7s, and now available to order! As part of my 13 year old son’s entrepreneur class we decided to help improve the visibility of our cars. As you all know we are quite exposed so anything to enhance visibility and safety is a bonus. Unlike most other solutions, our CaterLED lights are completely plug and play into your existing Caterham wiring system. Installation takes only 10-15 minutes. The kit comes with everything you need to install and fasten the lights and cables. The only tool you should need is a screwdriver. Even if you have no technical or electrical skills you can install these yourself. We went through a dozen or so different prototypes and designs until we found the perfect design and we are thrilled with the result. This has been a great project for my son to learn lots of new skills such as business plan writing, sourcing parts, assembling, soldering, testing, packing, shipping, costing, logo design, payments and more. If the community responds well and this is a longer term project then he’ll look at building a website for ordering with direct payment, Instagram and Facebook pages, and more. A fantastic learning experience! Pricing, including worldwide shipping from our home in Canada, is: £99/pair €119/pair US$129/pair CA$139/pair (for domestic orders) CA$175/pair for other international orders The kit includes everything you need to install the lights. Since we are not a business we don't anticipate any duties as we'll mark the package low value. If you need a LED Flasher Relay, we will provide those at £10ea, €12ea, US$13ea, CA$15ea or you can source your own relay: CF14 JL02. Lights can be mounted in 3 different locations. Based on our research these should fit nearly all Caterham models in the S3 and SV range. (We have not verified S2 and S4 due to lower number of cars, but if you have an S2 or S4 contact us directly). These may also fit other 7’s such as Westfield, Birkin, Locost etc. Please contact us for help before ordering if you have one. If you have an older Caterham with bullet connectors we can also work with those by giving you bare wires in the short term, or in the medium term we'll look at sourcing the bullets. Please read our FAQs to learn more about the different models we are offering based on the connectors you have on your car to ensure proper fitment. https://t.ly/GR51D You can customize the lighting if you do not want the indicators activated. You can specify your lights to have either: Brake, running, and indicators (recommended) Brake and running only You can specify your lights to omit the running/main light functionality and only act as a 3rd brake light + indicators. Installation instructions are here: https://t.ly/r64n6 He is now taking preorders so he can order all the components and start making them for you over the coming months. To facilitate this please complete this Order Form: https://forms.gle/32i2SQ9oMJ6WQBpS9 Let us know if you have any questions. Thank you, Dave and Nic Victoria, BC, Canada caterled7@gmail.com
  13. I was having issues with my battery and took it to a local shop. They tested it with a battery tester and determines it needed to be replaced. It might be worth doing that as well.
