Right this has been bugging me all last night the nose cone pressing in the top of the radiator! So instead of sitting eating rubbish at lunch (I work from home) I’ve adjusted the brackets where the radiator fits through down by 10mm. This now gives me just enough clearance so that the 620 nose cone doesn’t contact the radiator on the top… happy days! Need to keep an eye on the bottom left oil hose as that’s a little tight but will see once there is oil in and some pressure.

I had the incorrect radiator brackets delivered, when emailing Caterham about it they said to install the way I have in the email, I have screen shot below for reference. Your blog looks great, I did think about doing one but I haven’t got the discipline to document properly and get carried away moving onto next stages. When did you receive your kit, I’m trying to book my IVA for early/ mid July.

I was thinking of trying lowering the radiator as you say but there is no play in the bottom oil hose on the left side so was thinking this may not work. I’ll let you know what Caterham say.

Evening all Flowing on from the above post I received the correct brackets from Caterham so radiator fitted. I know there has been a lot of posts about radiator failures, I test fitted the nose cone (car is 420 but I ordered it with the 620 nose cone) this evening before filling fluids and the nose cone rests / pushes on the top of the radiator. Does anyone else have a 420R SV with new style radiator/brackets and 620 nose cone have the same? Is it something to worry about, I have emailed Caterham so will see what they say in the morning thanks again 😃

This is some great info, didn't know getting the dealer to do the paperwork speeds up the registration which is great as the time people have referenced for V5 return is not great. I already have the plate thats going on the car so hopefully a simple process. I did intend on taking the car to the IVA myself but the want of getting the car on the road is starting to outweighing my want to do this myself now and the registration part above makes this even better 🙂 If the next couple of weeks goto plan I'm hoping to book the PBC and IVA for mid July 🤞

Yes thank you had a read through them and some of the issues, when I get the correct brackets I’ll be super careful, cross my fingers and hope for the best.

Morning all How are people currently build finding it for missing parts? I feel each thing I move onto there is something missing, been waiting for a missing fixing pack and some other bits for nearly 3 weeks! Im missing my engine top hose that Caterham say was boxed and it’s 100% not been delivered. Now just gone to fit the radiator and the brackets I have don’t fit the radiator, looking at other people pictures and blogs mine are different for some reason and the mounting holes are completely wrong. I’ve always wanted to build a Caterham and it’s great that I’m getting the opportunity to but there not cheap bits of kit so you’d expect things to be right. Rant over, needed to vent… hope all enjoying the lovely weather either building are blating around in your 7.

That’s amazing thank you! By any chance can you remember where you found the nuts and bolts, I have the rubber mountings and found the metal plates. Always worried I’ll use the wrong bolts that are intended for something else. Thanks.

Hello.. Having a bit of a downer day, everything I seem to be going to do on my 420 kit I seem to be missing bits 😭 Just looking at the “new style” radiator (different shown in the manual) and can’t find anything that looks like it would fit it to the car, anyone had experience with the new fixings please? Where they are and what they look like? Thanks

Amazing thank you all for the quick answers! I’ll carry on putting all together and when I come to fit the headlights and mounting bracket I’ll go against everything my head tells me and push the bodywork. I’ve just downloaded the text rich older manual and printing now. Thanks 😁

Hello all… received my SV 420R kit last week after a long wait, finally got sometime to make a start this evening and stumbled at the first hurdle! Im following the order in the build manual, with the upper wishbone the front bolt on both sides pushes against the bodywork and no room to get the nut on the bolt… any ideas or experience would be greatly appreciated? Thanks
