The silencer on my 2011 Sigma 1.6 needs renewing or re-packing, I had it noise tested and it was over the limit at Oulton Park. In an effort to quieten my car down a little for couple of reasons ie - Neighbours, Trackday compliance and may help when I take out my autistic granddaughter. As I’m going to replace the original silencer, would it be possible to fit a Duratec and if possible would this make it any quieter?

I’ll get some 3M Peltors, if she likes it and there is no over stimulation for her, I will invest in some with intercoms..👍🏻

Thank you Malc. The roof off is her preferred option. She is 12 years old, I do plan on keeping very local to see how it goes. She does have some headphones for music would these be enough or do you think I should purchase some proper ear defenders? BTW my Ultimate Ear plugs are brilliant thank you for the recommendation.

Random question… My autistic granddaughter wants to come out in the Caterham. Question being, what’s the consensus of opinion on noise level differences inside the car with half hood fitted or just full screen and doors?

At what mileage would you expect to be repacking or replacing the exhaust silencer on a 140 Sigma. The use has been a good mix of track and fast road, car now at 19,000 miles. Is there any give away clues on whether the silencer needs replacing or repacking?

My 2011 Sigma with Type9 has grease nipples. Re - greased annually.
