  1. Hello Derek, We booked all the ferries before (for less stress). i think that you probably could just turn up, but it might be more risky on busy days (I don't really know though). i hope the weather will be good - I think that this would be a big factor for how it goes! cheers simon
  2. S3 Petty strut for sale £40 - for collection at 'Intro to Sprinting' Includes padding and fixing bolts. All proceeds will be given to the club charity. cheers Simon
  3. Hello PG. i look forward to see you at the next Somerset meet. I can’t add anything to the comments above - those mentioned are well established businesses. As Paul said, we would be interested if you find another. All the best, Simon Somerset (ooh) AR
  4. Morning Chris, A couple of us in class 1 were at Castle Coombe last year (so I think this changes the Edward Lewis points) Simon H
  5. It is not too hard to DIY (PPG premier paint guard supply the kit and pre cut film). In my opinion it is only worth doing the wings. It is amazingly tough stuff - you don’t need wing protectors. Simon
  6. Thanks Richard, Interesting to watch - very fast and tidy. Simon
  7. Thanks Dave, I enjoy looking through the pictures that you post.
  8. I have a my race light fitted as a brake light. It is indeed bright. I have covered some of the array with insulation tape to subdue it a bit. Simon
  9. I have made up a route for Cheddar Gorge/Wells/Glastonbury from the A303. My wife and I did it today - it’s a good little run (and full of points of interest) feel free you use it if you need inspiration (here) Simon
  10. A colleague at work told me that her late father built a Seven with registration N325FOT (BRG with flared wings). She would be interested to know if it is still on the road and see a photo. Any one know anything? Simon
  11. This is the one that you want (if the switch is the problem) Link At least your light is stuck on. Mine was intermittent and completely unknown to me until I was told after some dramatic evasive action from a friend following behind. Caterham should fix this.
  12. Mark, I did experience the problem you describe. There was a poor connection between the wingstay and the chassis. It sounds like I was a bit unlucky though - it only happened on one side. I solved it by running an earth wire along by the indicator wire. I expect that you should be fine without, and if not you know the solution. Simon
  13. I have always found there to be a very helpful atmosphere in the paddock - you should get plenty of help whenever you need it. good luck with the preparations, and see you in a few months, Simon
  14. A good alternative to fitting wing protectors is 3M film. Premier paint guard sell it cut in the right shape (with a club discount). You can fit it yourself on a new wing. It is remarkable stuff. I did about 25k miles and the wing was still in very good condition.
  15. I have just drilled out the knee trim rivets on my new car to install the captive nut thing for the aero screen. (Most Sevens have self taping screws, but mine does not for some reason) Other than looking tidy, what other function does the knee trim have? Once riveted back access is restricted. I’m tempted to add lightness... Simon
  16. Gurston Hill climb school is a good day out. You just need a road legal car. link regards, Simon
  17. Same as you, flashing weakly, but strong flashing once Earth connection made.
  18. Yes, I had this on one side. Although I had 12V, the earth connection via the wingstay was poor. If you place a wire between bare metal on the wingstay and the main chassis (perhaps the headlamp shell), and the indicator now works, then you have the same problem. I solved it by running a copper earth wire alongside the 12V cable to the flasher. Simon
  19. Caterham Seven 160 (2015) - for sale £16,500 We have had enormous fun in this car. We have taken it to Scotland twice, Ireland and France. It has done 3 track days, and eleven sprints. (All very carefully warmed up and down again) I have decided that I need a car with a few more bhp to be competitive in the Northampton Motorsport L7 Speed Championship. This car is great fun, and ideal for touring, but it cannot really compete with 125bhp cars. It is time to move on, and I plan to buy an academy car or something similar. I will probably part exchange this car fairly soon (once a suitable replacement comes up). However, before I do, I thought that I would offer it for sale here. It is not advertised anywhere else. 26,000 miles - mostly on long trips Lowered floors Trackday rollbar (suitable for L7 club trackdays) Leather seats Leather mono removable steering wheel 4pt harnesses This car was built carefully by me in 2014/2015 - you can see my build blog on this site. It has been serviced by me using good quality engine oil. It is an ideal car for touring. The handling is excellent, and it is much swifter than you would imagine from 80bhp. Please pm me if you are interested. Simon
  20. Oh no, that is very bad luck with the weather. I hope that the trip was good in other ways. we are just back from France. Apart from one massive storm (an all nighter) we struggled to keep out of the heat.
