  1. Anyone thinking of Wightblat?
  2. 'Solved' is a function where the OP can decide which post best solves a problem (but it's not enabled). I'm not sure that it would really work for the 'for sale' section. As has been said we will wait for the dust to settle and review some options based on how things have gone and the feedback here. Simon
  3. Great - see you there 😀 👍
  4. yes - thats the one (in the Activity part of the menu). It's quite adaptable. Simon
  5. This worried me! However, I went back into the old test site - those photos weren't there either. So it doesn't look like it wasn't to do with the transition. Simon
  6. We did ask about numbered posts, but unfortunately it wasn’t possible. Although it worked for us, in more heavily moderated forums it can get confusing and is not used so much now, apparently. However, as Gulf Seven says, using ‘quote’ is the way to go. Simon
  7. Thanks Guy, That information was transferred manually - so some errors were inevitable. I have updated it - let me know if further changes are needed. (and it looks like we need an AR for that area - any volunteers?) Simon
  8. Rob O makes good how-to videos. See this… and this; best, Simon
  9. You have to scroll right to the bottom
  10. Hello Alan, If you go to your area, you'll see three tabs: overview, members and 'Xxxx news'. Click on the news item, and 'follow' that. if you get stuck then let me know the area that you are trying to join. Simon
  11. Thanks for your quick flagging up. The permissions changed on the import (now fixed and spam removed).
  12. Hello all, There will be a lot going on in the next few days, and we will need to prioritise help for getting Club members logged in. However, feedback is useful and if you have any non-urgent comments or ideas then please list them below. Once the dust settles we can turn our attention to them. Many thanks, Simon.
  13. I have had a Seven with carpets/mats and one with just powder coat. Better without I say Simon
  14. Thanks for that - interesting. There is a lot of energy stored in a heavy spinning thing. Simon
  15. Thanks Simon... very much looking forward to the summer Anglesey one. Its a great track. Simon
  16. Is the fuel pump relay faulty? When you turn the key can you hear the fuel pump buzz into action for a few seconds. a new relay can be found on ebay quite cheaply. Simon
  17. Yes - many thanks for a great day. Also thanks for those that gave up their time to help with the commentary, photos, data input, track supervision and other jobs that sometimes go unseen.
  18. I recently suffered from the, all to common, radiator leak. Low and behold, when I removed the old radiator, it was not flush with the mountings. The mounting bolts had been putting it under stress. For the new radiator I was advised to add a spacing washer in front of one of the bobbins to correct this, which I did. I'm hoping that this is the last new radiator for a while. Simon
  19. I thought i'd report back about my progress with the Varley Li5 (from post 53). So far so good - it has not let me down yet, and this includes a weekend sprinting in Angelsey and touring on Wightblat. Cranking in the current warm weather is strong. However, it was noticeably weaker on cold mornings in the early spring (but still did the job ok). My car has an isolator switch which I use whenever I leave the car. Simon
  20. Sorry to hear this too. Great to meet you and all the best with your new plans. Simon
  21. Yes, i'd like a garage space please! Looking forward to it Simon
  22. I have the same issue. I plan to leave my old system in place. If its an issue then I'll remove the extinguisher and stickers in the paddock. However, being asked to remove a safety feature is unlikely (I hope). Simon
  23. Well I have gone for it and fitted at Varley Li5 lithium battery (1.1kg). I bought it along with a dedicated cage from Demon Tweaks (using the club 10% discount). I started the car for the first time this evening and it managed to do its job ok - although I think the cold and it’s partial initial state of charge means I didn't get the full beans. My understanding is that the car alternator is fixed at a steady low voltage this is fine for Lithium. Chargers for lead acid have some parts of their cycles which are serve a useful function in maintaining that type of battery. However, they temporarily exceed the voltage that is acceptable for Lithium batteries. The Halfords charger that I have bought skips these cycles when used for charging Lithium cells. I'll report if there any problems further down the line. Another thing… Jump starting a lithium battery looks like it needs to do done with care. It has a low internal resistance and if connected to a spinning alternator a rather large current could pour into it causing damage. One website I looked at suggested connecting the dead battery to a donor lead acid battery with the engine off. The negative lead is then pulsed on the negative terminal of the dead lithium battery to nurse it back to life for a minute or two before making a connection. *** I’m not suggesting that this is correct *** However, I’d be interested about the thoughts of others.

Nice one - well done for sorting that. Simon
  25. reply to #3 How do you go about getting a radiator repaired? Any recommendations. I have noticed a dreaded pink blotch after the Anglesey track-day. I only shelled out for a new radiator last year. Simon
