Great - see you there 😀 👍

Hello Derek,
We booked all the ferries before (for less stress).
i think that you probably could just turn up, but it might be more risky on busy days (I don't really know though).
i hope the weather will be good - I think that this would be a big factor for how it goes!
cheers

good news

Same as you, flashing weakly, but strong flashing once Earth connection made.
-
Yes, I had this on one side. Although I had 12V, the earth connection via the wingstay was poor. If you place a wire between bare metal on the wingstay and the main chassis (perhaps the headlamp shell), and the indicator now works, then you have the same problem.
I solved it by running a copper earth wire alongside the 12V cable to the flasher.

Oh no, that is very bad luck with the weather. I hope that the trip was good in other ways.
we are just back from France. Apart from one massive storm (an all nighter) we struggled to keep out of the heat.

They have a pretty roaring trade going!
We crossed over the pass in drizzle, after a long hot spell and it was slightly greasy. The road condition and grip didn't seem that great compared to some of the other excellent Scottish roads.

Hello Derek,
We did think about getting the ferry from the mainland to Skye, and then returning via the bridge. However, in the end we decided to take the bridge both ways (and this meant we could have another go at the famous Applecross pass once more
)

Thanks Derek,
Enjoy your NC run - hopefully the good weather will keep up for you.
Cheers Simon.

Thanks Ned, that’s useful to know. The consensus seems to be that it is not spinning freely enough.

Great to read your blog; keep going.
I think that too much grease on the ball joints can make them hard to get in. I made this mistake. Once I removed some, they slid in with less resistance.
-
Yes, it is a delicate balancing act... you need to give them enough to do to prevent them getting bored, but not so much that they can't handle it, and become frustrated.
-
That blog you reference by Daniel French is an excellent way to do headlights.
When I did my build, I remember doing, and then redoing the headlamps.
Enjoy your build. I would do it all again!

I suppose you could just have a ignition switch and a starter button.
-
I was just going to say that this would be remarkably easy to do. However, maybe not. The key barrel does have some function getting he fuel pump going before ignition.
-
My ignition barrel was a bit sticky to get the key in and out to start. However, that seems to have solved itself with use.
By the way, a few of us in Somerset are planning on taking the cars on track in Llandow on 11th April. If any of he 160 clan are interested then please send me a private message with your e-mail address - I'll give you more details. Most of the participants would be fairly new to track days. (Cost would be £100).
-
Ah that is disappointing. I don't know enough to give advice about the ignition barrel, but it would be easy to pop the back black plastic off and check for dodgy wiring.
You'll be sending it back then
-
Hampster,
I hope that the car is all good - let us know.

Mine has eaten an awful lot of moths but thankfully nothing bigger that roams Exmoor.

I had the intention of sticking below 4000rpm and mostly stuck to it, but occasionally enthusiasm got the better of me.
