First time the white 160 has not been in Low Flying for a while...

Peter, And to you! We have had our first blat of 2016 - I never thought that I would take the car out in January. While the weather was still mild, and before the gritters had started their work, we went down to the excellent bakery in Rousldon Village near Lyme Regis. The car is now firmly underwraps until the salt has washed off the roads. We have a few plans for this year - as well as the intro to sprinting at Curborough, we plan to go the the Le Man Classic in July. I'm also quite keen to get the car on a trackday (for novices). Nothing sorted yet though. Do you have any plans? Simon

It would be interesting to see some engine bay pics too, to see if there are any differences.

Hello! Great to hear from another 160 owner. I would have thought that your problems should be OK to fix - the car is so simple and the engine and gearbox are common Suzuki parts. NB before overtaking at speed you do have to get the revs up so that the turbo is in action. When I first had the car, I tried to put my foot down and overtake at low revs. In this situation the car tends to splutter, and you are left to meekly return. At high revs you get the whole turbo thing. Keep us posted, and I look forward to meeting you at some stage. Simon

I finished the 6000 mile service today, and did a bolt check of the suspension and engine mountings. All seems fine; the only slightly loose bolts were the engine mount bracket to engine bolts (on the drivers side). I'm told by a friend that this can be common.

Well, I would be interested to try a few track days... (But i would put myself firmly in the 'novice' class)

Does anyone check this end of the 160 thread anymore? I have signed up for the 'intro to sprinting' at Curborough. It would be nice to see some other 160s.

Hello folks, i have just signed up for the Gurston Hill Climb school on the 12th April (£165). Another fellow from the Somerset L7 club is doing it with me, but I thought that this might appeal to some of the 160ers. To be honest, I don't know a great deal about it, but from what I have read it looks interesting and fun. Here is the link... I was also thinking of a track day at Llandow (I think that this would be a similar sort of cost). However, nothing sorted yet. cheers Simon

Hello Ned, You might have forgotten (given our lengthy 160 conversations about all the issues we encountered) but my speedo also under read. I noticed it when comparing the drive back from the showroom with a friend. see the discussions in the blog here: http://www.lotus7.club/blogs/collection-simons-160 apperently you can ’adjust' the speedo (for example if you change the wheel size). in a nutshell this is what you need to know... 'An email from Derek confirmed that my speedo is on the wrong setting. You can press the speedo button in as you turn the ignition and a menu comes up. Apparently the code for the speedo should be 034187. Mine was not and I have since adjusted it' Your badger encounter didn't sound much fun, but probably worse for the badger. all the best... simon

I think that I might have solved my starting problem... (The car struggles to restart when hot. This happened at Goodwood, but I just got it going in time) The fuel line was up against a heater pipe. I think that the fuel was turning to vapour once the car was stationary, and hot. I have now moved it away with cable ties.

At the request of my wife I am going to dispose of some old windsurfing kit f1 discovery board (huge heavy beginners windsurf board - very battered condition) bic slalom board (good condition, but hard to learn on) 3 sails for different conditions (useable but disintegrating) 1 mast (the two bits have fused together but perfectly useable) boomthis would suit someone who is beginning - they could use this without fear of damaging expensive kit. However, to get sailing you would also need the following: a UJ (about £15 from eBay) a mast foot (about £15 from eBay)(eBay links for examples only - double check dimensions first!) If this kit is for you, then please let me know. Buyer collects from Street, Somerset (all or nothing!). You will need a roof rack. All I ask is a donation to NTL (pass me a cash on collection, say £40 or whatever you think it is worth). Simon

Hello folks, It looks like I managed to sweeze in on the Goodwood event on the 11th October. I'll see some of you there. Did you get you suspension adjusted Peter? simon

I have have moved mine back too, and it wasn't quite as tricky as I thought. I have leather seats; I just shifted the seat forwards and reached down inside to change the hole. The lap belt is not as easy to adjust as before, but I can get them tight.

Any more thoughts about sprinting? Perhaps a gentle way in would be to consider a suitable track day (or handling day) in the spring. By the way, another 160 owner has popped up under Mike's recent blog. Simon

I have thought a bit more about this. I think that my car has two available bolt holes on the tunnel. At the moment the lap strap is fixed to the foremost one. Does anyone have their lap strap attached the the rear hole and is this 'possible/safe/OK'

We had our school Seven delivered today (....ahem... If your child goes to Millfield they can get to build a Seven). I recognised the delivery guy from when my own car came. He said that he has delivered 12 160 kits (and of course there are owners with factory built cars). There are not too many of us! The car the school is building is a 270.
