If you know you'll be coming along/eating, can you please let us know, so that we can reserve enough space in one part of the pub for the whole group.

Sunday 2nd November is the annual Veteran car run from London to Brighton.
As usual, the Club will be cheering on the participants from our pitch at Handcross, with on-site refreshments and the ESV providing a timely opportunity to buy those essential items of Club Regalia for Christmas!  For further details look out for a topic on www.blatchat.com
From mid-morning the North Kent Area have secured some tickets, display parking (sevens and 21s only), and a hospitality suite at Brands Hatch for the Truck Racing festival and evening Firework display. The free tickets are allocated on a first come first served basis, so to register your interest go to the North Kent Area Calendar click on the event and "enrol for this event" (Direct Link here).  Should be a great vantage point for the racing and the fireworks!  See you there.

The London (West) and Middlesex Area will meet at the Ace Cafe on Tuesday 9 September in the early evening.
Calling all Club members in west and north-west London together with surrounding areas, all the way out to the M25 and a little beyond. Join other Seven enthusiasts at the only London meeting where cars are welcome!
The Ace Cafe is one of those essential locations for those who are enthusiastic about cars or bikes and it has a fine reputation for music too. But it is the motoring connection which concerns us, our monthly Club night coincides with its classic car night and the meeting of the Sprite & Midget Club. Particularly during the long evenings and fine weather of the summer there is a delightful mix of cars in wonderful diversity, mostly of stunning condition. You might describe it as a tyre-kickers’ delight!

Subsequent meetings will be on 14 October, 11 November and subsequent second Tuesdays each month.

    Novice
Clive Marsden has secured the Novice Award
    Ladies
Lynn Gilbert has secured the Ladies Award.
    Edward Lewis
Oliver Wright has a substantial lead and is probably uncatchable at this point.
Of the 33 competitors having scored Edward Lewis points this year 17 having a positive score, with 6 scoring above 10 points,
    Overall Champion
Whilst in theory there are 14 competitors who could win the overall championship in reality there is one leader in Shaun Elwell is currently on 505.86 putting the few with a potential to catch him under pressure to not only break class record but thoroughly smash them to stand a chance of catching him.

Caterham will compete at the famous Brighton Speed Trials event for the first time in seven years on Saturday 6 September.

The manufacturer’s return to the unique seaside sprint event will see the Seven 620 R deployed at the hands of experienced racer, Scott Mansell.

The two-seater sportscar, launched last year, is the most extreme variant of the Seven to date. With its two-litre supercharged engine, boasting 310bhp, it is capable of reaching 60mph in just 2.79 seconds.

The event is acknowledged as one of the longest-running motor races in the world, with the first event taking place in July, 1905.

One of over 200 high-performance vehicles from several categories, the Seven 620 R willing be vying to be the fastest in the road-going production class. The six quickest vehicles across all classes will compete in the top-6 run off.

Mansell, 28, has 20 years of motorsport experience; he still holds fastest lap records at the UK’s Donington Park, Silverstone National and Brands Hatch Indy circuits.

Professional racing driver and Business Development Manager of The Caterham Experience, Mansell, said: “The Brighton Speed Trials is a special event. Its location, literally next to the sea, is unlike any other race in the world – it is motorsport heaven for any enthusiast and a very impressive spectator sport. With the Seven 620 R, I am hoping to be right up there in our category. I will be focussed on the win, but we are there to enjoy ourselves too.”
