We are pleased to announce that we are once again planning to produce a Club calendar for next year, 2019.  This will be sent out to all members with December’s Lowflying.  Once again, we are looking to illustrate each month using members’ own photos.  So, not only is this your chance to have your photographs immortalised in print, and hanging on members’ walls around the world, but those whose shots get selected for use will be rewarded with vouchers that can be used to pay for, or contribute towards, any product or service that the Club sells, including merchandise, Club-organised events, trackdays or even membership renewals!
We always receive a fantastic range of photographs for the calendar, and we are once again going to retain the general theme for the photo competition as “Lotus 7 Club Life”.  This could include themes of touring, events, track days, cars – the only real limit is your imagination.  We particularly look forward to receiving photos that show the diversity that we have within our members in terms of location, age, gender, hobbies etc.  A short caption for each picture submitted would be greatly appreciated, as any photo that is not used on the calendar may well be chosen to appear in Lowflying at a later date.
PLEASE NOTE: Because of the calendar’s layout, pictures will need to be in landscape format.  Please also make sure that files are sent in the highest resolution possible to ensure good quality reproduction.
Please send entries to lowflying@lotus7club.com, with a single picture and caption per email.  A maximum of five pictures is allowed per person and  membership number.
Please mark all entries with the subject title “Club Calendar 2019 Photo Competition”.  Submissions should include your name, phone number and Club membership number.
12 entries will be selected for the calendar, and the following prizes will be on offer:
1st Prize £50 credit towards a Club product or service.
2nd Prize £30 credit towards a Club product or service.
The remaining selected entrants will receive a £15 credit towards a Club product or service.
    Terms and Conditions.
    1) The closing date for the competition is Friday 2nd November 2018.  Images received after this date will not be eligible for consideration.
    2) The Competition is open to Club members only. Although you are welcome to submit up to five pictures per membership number, typically no more than one from any member’s set will be chosen for the final winning selection.
    3) No images submitted to previous years’ competition will be considered.
    4) Entrants must warrant that the photograph that they are submitting is their own work, that they own the copyright for it and that they have obtained any necessary consents relating to its capture and reproduction.
    5) Entrants will retain the copyright to the image, but by entering, agree to allow the Lotus 7 Club licence to reproduce the submitted images royalty free in any manner that the Club deems fit for Club purposes.
    6) The prizes of credit towards a Club product or service can be redeemed up until 31 December 2019 either by placing an order via the Club office or purchasing merchandise from the ESV.  Any remaining credit after this date will expire.
    7) The Club will endeavour to credit your picture wherever possible with an appropriate attribution, but this is not guaranteed.
    8) Late, incomplete or corrupt entries will not be accepted. No responsibility can be accepted for lost entries and proof of transmission will not be accepted as proof of receipt.
    9) The judges’ decision is final.
    10) The Club reserves the right to alter the prizes awarded in the event of unforeseen circumstances.
    11) Submission of an entry implies acceptance of these terms and conditions in full.

    Heritage Group
Ladies and Gentlemen. We are now two weeks from the inaugural meeting of the Heritage Section of the Lotus Seven Club, the Lotus Sevens Day Out to celebrate our cars 1957 to 1973, at the Phoenix Inn, Hartley Wintney. It’s all happening on 15th September 2018 from 11ish to when everybody has gone home. The pub management, well used to car clubs, is reserving all the parking area in front for our Lotus Sevens, and the club Event Support Vehicle (ESV) will be parked nearby.
The first reference to Lotus Sevens at the Phoenix that I can find is a meeting on 5th June 1970 which would of course have been 100% Lotus Sevens. I’m glad to say we’re getting good support from current owners; perhaps some of you were there in 1970?
Provided I get enough willing marshals, we’ll also be reserving space for all the other Sevens in a line in the rear parking area. Please tell me if you intend to come and eat, the centre section in the restaurant is being saved for us. They will also be serving coffees and teas and sandwiches.
NEW! A late addition – With the help of Dave and the ESV, we’re making space for a small autojumble purely for Lotus Seven parts that you can bring in your Seven. (The Club does not guarantee genuine provenance!) It is not intended to be a general market, and you have to take away anything that does not sell! A donation or the proceeds would be expected for the Club charity, Sir Jackie Stewart’s Race against Dementia.
You can contact Rod Thonger on heritage@lotus7.club with any questions. I hope we’ll see you there.

As we are now enjoying what might be called ‘the peak season’ for being out and about and enjoying your Seven, we are taking this opportunity to highlight several Club-organised events that will be taking place during the next month or so. We hope to see you at one or more of these activities and recommend that if you are thinking of participating, you act promptly to be sure of securing places before they are all taken.
    Club Trackdays

Cadwell Park - Tuesday 12th June
With less than two weeks to go, there are still places left for what is traditionally the social highlight of the Club’s trackday calendar. For those able to arrive at Cadwell Park on the Monday evening, there will be a members’ only hog-roast and private bar in the paddock area. The next day we will be providing seven hours of Club-exclusive track-time, starting in sessions and moving to open pit lane format. Our buddy system will be on offer, the ESV will be present and free instruction will be available for all. The price is just £195 for a car and main driver - great value for the chance to drive this fabulous Seven-friendly circuit whilst enjoying the company of your fellow Club members.
Further details including an online booking form are available on the Club’s website, linked here: https://www.lotus7.club/whats-on/cadwell-park-track-day-provisional , or call the Club office on 01873 777303.
Oulton Park - Tuesday 3rd July
Located in Cheshire, easily accessible from the M6 motorway, Oulton Park has been a long-time favourite track venue for the Club, being a terrific circuit for Sevens of all levels. We are offering places in our Club-exclusive sessions that will run for 20 minutes every hour throughout the day at a cost of £229 for a car and main driver, inclusive of free instruction. As usual, we will be arranging a pre-event social and the ESV will be in attendance to reinforce our much-enjoyed Club atmosphere.
Further details including an online booking form are available on the Club’s website, linked here: https://www.lotus7.club/whats-on/oulton-park-track-day-provisional or call the Club office on 01873 777303.
    Club Tours

Le Mans Classic - Lotus 7 Club at Porsche Curves - Thursday 5th to Monday 9th July
A unique opportunity to have a private tent pitch at the famous Porsche Curves at the Le Mans Circuit for this classic sports car event that runs every two years, using the full 13.65 km circuit that is also used for the annual modern-day 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Le Mans Classic of 2002 was the first time since 1923 that the full circuit, part of which is public roads the rest of the year, was closed specifically for an event other than the annual running of the contemporary "24 Heures du Mans", to allow car owners and gentleman drivers to experience what it must have been to race these cars on this circuit.
The tour includes: Channel crossing, camping permit, general entrance and paddock entrance tickets, recorded delivery of tickets and Lotus 7 Club private parking at the prestigious Bugatti Circuit. A fantastic opportunity to see classic racing cars being put through their paces at a truly iconic location.
To book a place or for more information, contact the Club’s travel and tour partner, Travel Destinations on 0844 873 0203 and quote Lotus 7 Club at Le Mans together with your membership number.
    Portmeirion 25th - 27th June
Our second annual trip to Portmeirion, home of the Prisoner and the iconic Lotus 7. An opportunity to drive the ‘Evo triangle’, maybe take a trip down the longest zipwire in Europe, or simply relax in the village.
Although technically bookings have closed, we understand some rooms are still available. Please contact the office who will check for you.
    Club Speed Events

Sunday 26th August sees the Club organising the second of its “home” events at Curborough Sprint Circuit near Litchfield. It’s always a great event whether you are competing or spectating. Championship Coordinator Chris Bramall is keen to remind anyone interested in trying out this most accessible form of motor sport that they are welcome to take part. Yes, there are some safety items required (primarily an approved race suit, helmet, gloves and roll over bar, and an MSA Non Race B license has to be applied for) but the rewards are huge! Chris is also wants to point out that any novice planning to enter the 2019 competition can participate in the August Curborough round and still qualify as a novice next year.
Chris is also interested in anyone who is not interested in competing but who would be is interested in helping out with scoring or other roles. compsec@lotus7.club
This email aims to highlight just a few of the forthcoming events on offer to Lotus 7 Club members. For a more comprehensive list, look in the Diary section of Lowflying or in the “What’s On” area on the Club homepage www.lotus7.club
Should you wish no longer to receive communications such as this, please contact memsec@lotus7.club to be removed from the distribution list.
