mark shekle
Dear fellow enthusiasts, Can anyone help.........?? The anodising on my windscreen needs refinishing, to do this requires the removal of the entire windscreen and the glass from the surround. I then intend removing (by careful drilling) the pop rivits that retain the hood poppers, although I'm unsure as to whether this would result in me being unable to remove the rivit remnants from the aluminium surround as I'm unfamilar with its construction i.e. is the surround simply a U channel? If anyone has experience of stripping out their windscreen could they please advise me? Thanks Mark Shekle
EFA
Mark, They are not anodised. they are either bare ally or satin black powder coat. Whichever, the rivet ends do fall out of the middle. I would warn you it is an artform getting the glass back in and revitting the rivets without cracking the screen. The pro's often manage to crack them! Slarty Blat Fast
Just for the record, the latest "silver" screen surrounds are now anodised. I hope yours isn't one of them! Slarty Blat Fasttongue.gif
