stuart simm
Can anyone advise regarding tracking. I have an De Dion 1700 xflow with Yokohama Advan A048 185/60 R14 tyres that is currently only used on the road. How should I have the tracking set? Caterham have said straight and Redline, who's advice I greatly respect, have said to have it set at "22 minutes tow in". Any further advice? Mick Day
First have it set straight; try it & see how you like it. You can then set a little toe-in & try that or indeed have a play with some toe-out. It's v easy to change yourself but you need a reliable datum to start with. stuart simm
Thanks for advice. Appreciate effects on tyre wear of tracking but what difference does it make to the handling/ feel of car going from toe in to straight or vice versa? Mick Day
All tyres wear 😬 As I understand it toe-in will give better straight line tracking but the car is more reluctant to turn in to the corner. Toe-out gives the reverse. However once you have your reliable datum play around & see what you like.
