amosian Posted January 24, 2002 Share Posted January 24, 2002 Just reading something about moomin's Elise and that his gearbox is a bit awkward when the car is stationary. My 1.4k series 6spd box is the same. Won't go into any gear whilst the engine is not running. Also doesn't like 3rd to 2nd down shifts which forces me to double declutch. Any ideas? moomin Posted January 24, 2002 Share Posted January 24, 2002 Hi, For what it's worth I think the problem with my Elise is a smidge of clutch drag which can probably be tuned out with some adjustment and re-calibration of the hydraulic system. It's a fairly common Elise problem, and is most noticable when the engine is running indicating a clutch adjustment issue. Not sure whether this could be the same on the Caterham? Although you suggest the problem is worst when the engine is not running? Could be worth an oil change as Rob says, I've read about that elsewhere on blatchat.
