Spark Plugs

Recommended Posts

Need new spark plugs for my 1.6KSS. Has anyone tried the Bosch 4 electrode type (they're expensive and therefore must be better!) and are they really worth it?

BTW, when I go shopping and look through the parts guide, are the plugs I need for a 216i Rover?

James.

As I see it the spark will jump the gap that has the least resistance ie. smallest gap. I assume that the four elecrode ones just mean that the spark moves around the different elecrodes as wear takes place. It therefore means that they need attention on the gap setting front only 25% as often as 'normal' plugs.

Not sure if anything is gained by the elecrodes being 'open' as opposed to shielded by the 90* curved electrode. I doubt it, and the latter could protect from fouling maybe?

Let's face it, they want to have some gimmick so you buy their plugs instead of some other make. Maybe that's their 'edge' !
