I want a new wheel!

Has anyone any ideas where I can get a nice, shiny new steering wheel without paying Demon-Tweeks prices? I'm after something less than 12" dia., flat bottom and suede (preferably blue). Has anyone seen any reasonable deals anywhere?

Cheers...

The only two wheels that suit your criteria are

1)Spa design 255mm flat bottom

2)Sparco Formula 260mm

the sparco is std in blue alcantara, the spa design available to order only,

BTW do you ask for discount on your shopping at Tesco/Sainsbury's etc biggrin.gif

Dave,

Why thankyou for that! I've got the Demon-Tweeks catalogue and have seen both of the wheels you mention (very nice), but we all know how inflated their prices are...

I'm just after finding someone who can sell me a wheel for a more sensible price, that's all! I spoke to a very nice lady today at James Whiting's abode who honestly said that theirs would be no cheaper, so I may be struggling!

And no, I don't ask for a discount at Tesco's, but I would if I was buying my pies from Fortnam & Mason! (Queenies supermarket on Piccadilly in London Village for those who don't know!!!!).

Ta for your help anyway!

Coose.

The very nice lady at James Whitings abode would be Ruth his wife. If the s/wheels are about the same in cost, I would put my money in their hands as they are great ambassadors for the club. J W is the club (L7C of GB)technical information specialist after all!!!

ps. No, not on any percentage.

Must be a 'Pukka' Racing car then smile.gif

BTW does anyone know if 'chopped top' wheels are road legal in the UK ? Just thinking because my currnet Momo obscures half of the speedo and rev counter, but you can't use that as an excuse to plod when you get pulled sad.gif

Do Momo do 'Chopped Top' wheels in leather or just suede ?

Never met Dave K but I bought a diff and CWP off him, cheers Dave.

Dave made some very good prices for me for several DT-parts, so that it was cheaper for me to buy them in GB and get them shipped to Germany than buying them directly over here.

Thanks for that first !! All parts arrived quickly and in perfect condition.

Give him a ring and I´m sure he´ll quote you the best price DT can afford.

Ooooops! Should I now burn my D-T catalogue or is it not too late to save myself? wink.gif

My next question is: - Is a boss which will fit a race type wheel (such as the two DaveK mentioned, and also the Momo Type28)which will also fit a Mk2 Escort steering column (dia. 5/8")? I took a trip to Mr & Mrs Whitings' pad today and they had Caterham bosses (which, of course are different) but couldn't really help me.

I think I'm gonna have to call D-T with my tail between my legs.....

Cooose,

How's tricksquestion.gif

I too am looking for a flat bottom. I am hoping wathing "Fat Camp" tonite will help stop me eating the leftover Xmas chokkys.

Why not get a QA weld on boss, then you can take it into the house at nightsmile.gif.

Mine's on top of the bookshelf in the living room.

Dave K,

Can't the L7C use our yellow cards at DTs like the blue ones at Sainsburysquestion.gifsmile.gif

DT has always been advised that the open top momo wheels are illegal for road use as the open section is deemed to be dangerous as a driver could "miss" the wheel when turning corners and lose control.

The blue book lists that the wheel is only suitable for drag racing as any racing wheel needs to have a 360 degree rim.

Give me a ring if you can get through on my ddi number and i'll see what I can do.

The boss situation is bit more difficult as although I can supply a boss to suit a Mk2 spline this is to suit the std 6 bolt momo fitting which is too big to fit to a race wheel ctr.

An adaptor is available to convert 6 bolt to race wheel, but this only brings the wheel closer to you which may not be suitable in your car.

Arnie BTW i'm noting all the sarcastic remarks.

cheers
