Ian L
I am in Essex (Maldon) and have entered the sprint competition (class 2) for the first time and would like a quick chat with anybody that has done it before. Just silly questions about head rests, aero screens, timing strut and numbers. I was hoping to sort it out at Hyperion tomorrow but am off to Norway on Sunday for the earlier part of the week (not my call). Only a novice, so some advice to pass scrutineering would be welcome. Graham Perry
YHM, re the questions you sent me offline I don't have the answer to your question re the standard Caterham cloth seat head restraints. Does anyone know if they are acceptable or do they need a brace behind them ?
Silver 21
Graham/Ian This was raised when head restraints became compulsory, the later S type seats are OK if you use the headrest supplied with the seat ( Ithink these are post 96). The problem people usually have is that using the standard headrest with a race helmet often pushes the head too far forward, Hope this answers the question Graham Lotus 7 Club General Secretary
mav
The headrest can be reveresed, so long as the seat is not pushed all the way back (in a std car) and stops the pushing on the back of your helmeted head
bl0498
Hi Mav, The only problem with that Mav is that the headrest was not designed to be used reversed and hence will not pass muster with any regulations - which is what the headrest must do. Not sure scrutineers will be happy with that either. I would not rely on that as a permanent headrest solution! If I saw any headrests like that when acting as CofC I would be asking the scrutineers to check them over! Brian.
