One last Slick tyre question

After speaking with George Polley, the recommended slick tyre sizes for the 6 and 8 / 13inch rims are 6/21 and 7/22.

If I understand this correctly, this gives a tread width measurement of 157mm and 175mm respectively.

If I compare this to Yoko 48's which are 185 and 205 respectively, the slicks offer alot less tread width.

Considering that the slicks are crossply, 2nd hand (3mm tread remaining typically), very very cheap (£20 each) and readily available (control tyre for Formula Ford Zetec), is it a worthwhile change in setup (I would have to change ride height, front geometry and e-dion ears)? Does the fact that they are slicks and sticky compensate for the loss of tread width?

ta very much *thumbup*

Franky they are a bit narrow the standard R400 race cars ran 7" fronts and 8.2" rears. As to the level of grip ??????? Who knows it depends on the compound obviously and how the slicks were used and stored. they could be hard as rock and offer less grip then fresh Yokos. The known quantity is that they are cheap and will give you several cheap trackdays.
