frankyknuckles
It appears to be p!ssing fluid out of the top via the screw cap. Is this normal behaviour?
DSL
Nope, not on my new one. Did take three bleeds to remove all the trapped air though ☹️
F355GTS
Yep, Dave you need to keep the level just above the half way mark Mark
jason liddell
I've had this same problem since fitting mine. Appears to weep around the cap/thread. Are you saying ignore the "fill to here" mark and just have half full (say to reservoir joint seam), Mark?
F355GTS
Jason That's what I've always done up to the seam as you say, keep an eye on it from time to time though Mark
Neill Anderson
Not sure exactly what the style of the uprated one is but it is common on AP race master cyls to use a bellows under the cap that accounts for the volume changes and stops fluid pissing out the breather hole. They don't cost much, try AP Racing or one of their agents Neill
Myles
TADTS - well, mine did. I upgraded to the AP Race from the std. MC and it lost fluid on the first outing. You can use the old cap if you want - but it's a bit like a dry-sump - let it (from what I've been told) find its own level. Project Scope-Creep is live... frankyknuckles
cheers Angus and I thought it was simply finding it's own level. There is no 'max' line, only a 'minimum' line (which is half way). It was full to the brim, so what you all say makes sense (and makes me feel a little better about the whole situation ) www.R300.net
Slipper man
They all seem to do that, which I find unacceptable given how nasty brake fluid is. If you have ANY on the plastic shroud to the heater if you have one, get it cleaned off right away or it disintegrates. I always have some absorbant rag wrapped around the cap and help with cable tie to stop the drips. Hadn't thought about letting the level go down a bit. Rob Walker
I only fill mine to half way joint and use Castrol SRF it does not leak . SRF does not damage paint .
