Pete Posted January 17, 2002 Share Posted January 17, 2002 I need to change the wheel studs on my car to longer versions following a change of wheel types. I have not done this before........Do the old studs knock out of the hubs or do they need to be pressed out? Also, does anyone know a good source of wheel studs? Nigel Riches Posted January 18, 2002 Share Posted January 18, 2002 Pete as you'll need a press to install the new studs it would be better practice to press the originals out, a much more controlled method, with less chance of damaging the hub. In needs some well placed hammer blows and it is important to keep the blows straight. A blacksmith would make it look like childs play! You have to split hubs and disc on newer cars...
