Wheel studs

Pete

Recommended Posts

I need to change the wheel studs on my car to longer versions following a change of wheel types. I have not done this before........Do the old studs knock out of the hubs or do they need to be pressed out?

Also, does anyone know a good source of wheel studs?

Many thanks in advance.

Pete as you'll need a press to install the new studs it would be better practice to press the originals out, a much more controlled method, with less chance of damaging the hub. Hammers are fine for nails and other imprecise means of holding things together, not wheel studs. Regards Nigel.

You do not need to press them either way.

Out is pretty easy. In needs some well placed hammer blows and it is important to

keep the blows straight. A blacksmith would make it look like childs play!

You have to split hubs and disc on newer cars... All cars if longer studs are to be fitted.
