Graham Sewell Posted January 15, 2002 Share Posted January 15, 2002 IIRC they are about 11ohm, which means that with alternator running 14V, they must be able to carry 14*14/11 Watts - around 18W if my fingers are right... Andrew Dent Posted January 15, 2002 Share Posted January 15, 2002 Buying from place like Farnell or RS is that you have to buy in multiples of 5. Still cheaper than other sources. Both companies will deal with the public. Had a look in Farnell this afternoon for the larger resistors. They do have a selection but limited. Max wattage was around 18w which is plenty. pie_boy69 Posted January 16, 2002 Author Share Posted January 16, 2002 I have manged to find the destruction manwell for the switch and the resistor needed is an 3ohm 11watt ceramic body type RS stock number 206-1287 page 292 catalouge 3 minimumorder of 5 but still half price of demon theives. Chelspeed Posted January 16, 2002 Share Posted January 16, 2002 I used an ally cased resistor, RS part no 157-538, 2R2 and 25W - near enough, little bit more costly (£1.39) but more substantial, less likely to snap off it's conencting wires, looks much better and has a mounting lug for pop rivetting it up out of the way.
