oilyhands
For anyone interested in an airbox for the roller barrels and Titan DTH bodies, Bernard at Autoteknix has given me the following information and has asked for opinions on inlet size. Things are going well on the roller barrel /Titan airbox and I hope to have it ready in 4-6 weeks, maybe less. We tried a mock up of it one Bob Corbishleys car to check some clearances and it looks OK. Could you ask the question on the forum about what they want the inlet diameter to be and what they want to put on it. I think that for airflow an 80 mm hose would be best, going to a remote filter, but there should be room for standard 70 mm filter but I feel this is a bit on the small side. Could I have opinions on filter neck size / inlet size. Dave

Mark Durrant
Oily I am in the market for one of these airboxes so will be interested to here on the progress. The Polisher
Dave Could the inlet be stepped from the standard 70mm up to say 76mm which seems to be a popular K&N size. The 70mm will then fit the standard filter for 'modest' power requirements or could be cut off for use with the larger filters. Speedy decision required as I want mine soon!!! 😬 Dave H. oilyhands
Dave, You will be wanting the airbox for the Jenvey TBs I believe... I'll ask about the step on that one.. Oily
Jason Plato
My filter is 102mm ID The KN literature states it flows enough for 450bhp
frankyknuckles
Oily - is there any indication on price for this airbox? I presume it will be sold as a complete 'bolt on' kit? Will it be carbon or GRP? Thanks www.R300.net
noddy
I'm very interested, I e-mailed Bernard a week or so ago and he siad he was working on this. I'm not fussed what size the inlet diameter is; as long as it's big enough to "do the job". If I can get an airbox to fit with my freestyle inboard suspension then I will need to use some hose to a remote filter anyway. As I dont yet have the hose or filter it doesnt matter what size it is as long as you can buy them! R400 .......... I love it
frankyknuckles
The Reverie and CC airbox (not 100% sure if they are the same item) has a 102mm inlet. www.R300.net
oilyhands
The airbox will be GRP AFAIK. Some pictures of the proposed box are now on Bernards website.. here and here and here and here and here and here Any comments? Oily
Rob Walker
At least the fixings have been kept outside the box, this is one good improvement over the old one. The mounting looks a copy of the pipercross mount which is proven.

John Howe
Hi Dave, any idea what is the max. length of trumpet that the box will take? JH Deliveries by Saffron, the yellow 230bhp Sausage delivery machine
Mark Durrant
Dave I like the idea of using the Pipercross backplate as this will enable a quick and easy change from the standard pipercross filter to the airbox without the need to remove the trumpets etc. It is also good to see that the fixings are being kept outside of the airbox. I would also like to know the distance from the back of the box to the trumpets. In addition, I would like to have the option of fitting a cone filter direct to the airbox as opposed to using a length of hose. this will obviously be determined bu the size and angle of the airbox aperture. Dave Jackson has done something very similar with the airbox on his Jenvey T/B's. Mark D Comp Sec
Jason Plato
Mark - you can also get KN filters with angled necks on the filter if that helps take a look on the link on my earlier post C7 TOP Powered by Hellier Performance 😬 South Wales AO

7 wonders of the world
Dave, a few Q's........... How much ? How soon ? max trumpet length ? Complete kit as per current kit ? K / Jenvey compatible ? Introductory offer maybe ....?
frankyknuckles
and can it have a straight intake as per DJ's design here ? (hope you don't mind me using your pics Dave ) www.R300.net
frankyknuckles
errr, no it can't can it ☹️ DJ's throttle bodies are different to the CC r/b's and are at a different angle here So ideally we need the largest filter possible on the current design without having to move the header tank. www.R300.net Edited by - frankyknuckles on 23 Feb 2006 11:29:
Andy Clayson
I'm interested but am mechanically incompetent so will let others offer opinions on sizes, etc. As long as it will fit on a "standard" R400 engine I'll be happy. Just want to indicate some interest. Andy
oilyhands
The trumpet offset os determined by the existing backplate... Target price is £230-260, timings ar TBA, but will be faster if Bernard stumps up some more cash for more expensive prototyping, hence the thread to gauge interest. Maximum trumpet length will be box depth - 45mm. Oily
7 wonders of the world
Dave, Am I correct in that as this will use the Pipercross style back plate it won't fit Jenvey's using the OE injectors and rail ie I'd need to buy the spacers etc ? So for K / Jenvey I'm best off with the current model ? Thanks
Jason Plato
could you just confirm that the total air box depth is 45mm . (rollers on her shopping list instead of easter egg )
