colincagain
Has anyone tried ordering a new air filter from Caterham recently for a 1400K? I have the Supersport in a 92 DD. The filter they sent would not fit as if fouled underneath due to a neck that was too short ... my old filter has an extended neck on one side to help it clear. I was passing CC's showroom a few months ago and demonstrated the problem on one of their cars - so got a refund OK - but no apparent interest from parts in resolving the problem. Apparently no one else had reported a problem?. Any thoughts? Cheers Colin
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted February 19, 2006 Leadership Team Share Posted February 19, 2006 Why do you need a new one - just give it a wash, re-oil it and put it back Stu.
Nifty
Same reply as Stu Keep off the straight and narrow 😬
Englishmaninwales
My new one fitted OK (1400ss forward facing TB). Couldnt wash it Stu, as it was falling to bits ❗ Malcolm
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted February 20, 2006 Leadership Team Share Posted February 20, 2006 Malcolm, you really must stop using it around the yard in place of the tractor 😬 Stu.

Simon_hill
Not a Caterham part unfortunately, but I bought a filter from Ashley (Competition Exhausts I think) and they put on whatever end I needed - i.e angle / length, which may be another solution. David Lynch
Spoke to Darren at CC Parts re. mine but didn't get a part number ☹️. £27+VAT for a Pipercross unit. Think I'll be cleaning my K&N in the short term 1.4K SS 😬 The Geek will inherit the earth
colincagain
mine is pretty old and not a "cleanable" foam job ... sounds as though no one else has had a problem with the neck .. though may chase the Ashley source thanks
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted February 22, 2006 Leadership Team Share Posted February 22, 2006 Colin - IIRC the filter fitted to the 1400SS is a forward facing K&N, with a slight angle moulded into the mounting rubber section - correct? Mine was certainly like that ('95 car). This type of filter can be cleaned in warm soapy water, than re-oiled along the filter "flutes" using K&N oil. They should effectively last forever unless they fall apart Stu.
colincagain
correct - K&N filter - angled rubber neck and all ... looked like a paper element inside the external gauze so I assumed it was not washable ... will take your advice and clean it up thanks Colin
CageyH
What you want is a K&N Filter recharger kit. This will give you cleaning solution, oil and instructions. Enough to do the job more than once.
