Tiny Tim
What width tyres should I be looking at for a VX HPC with standard 175bhp. I currently have the standard issue 16" diameter which I think are 7" wide. I am thinking of changing to 13" but wonder whether I can go for 13x6 all round or need to go for a wider wheel (& tyre) for the rear. Any thoughts? Mick Day
With a 175BHP K series I was using 6" wide wheels. More power probably needs wider tyres at the back. I have 5 x 13 x 6" wheels & tyres for sale. Mick
Jason Plato
probably at least a 205 section . Which will fit on your 7" rims fine. The type of tyre is probably more important . The choice is of either sticky Yoko 48R type or hard wearing much lower grip standard road tyres like a Michelin or such like. Tiny Tim
Thanks, but would a 205 section fit a 6" rim?
Area Representative Nick Chan Posted February 19, 2006 Area Representative Share Posted February 19, 2006 A 205 tyre will fit a 6" rim but I think its a tight fit and the sidewalls will be ) ( - edited! I have used my standard 175 bhp VX on standard 6" minators all round with 185/70 x 13 AO21r's for both road and track use and I thought it was a very good combination in both dry and wet conditions. The 8 spoke anthracite wheels with the list 1a RE720's for sale yesterday would be a good buy if you wanted to make the move over.
