Peter Lydford
1972 Lotus Elan +2S/130 4 speed, lagoon blue & silver roof, it's had a lot of work & money thrown at it in the last few years including a galvanised chassis, engine re-build, new brake servo etc: I suspect that the chassis & body were re-built about 8/9 years ago by Paul Matty, but they haven't any records going that far back, they have only just gone computerised ! Since I've had it I've re-built the pedal box including new seals in the clutch & brake master cylinders, clutch slave cylinder, and this week I'm doing the same for the brake wheel calipers, new brake lines etc: The body is in very good condition with very few gelcoat cracks, the paint is generally good but the silver on the roof is a bit flat, maybe a mopping would make it look better for a while, all the chrome is very good, the interior is complete with the orignal steering wheel, the dashboard is good with no cracks etc:, the carpets are non-orignal, an new carpet set is about £100, and everything works ! The wheels are orignal Lotus knock-on alloys, good condition but could do with a fresh coat of paint. Even the spare is the same alloy type ! If the car is sold near the asking price I also have some books which I may throw in, they include an orignal Lotus workshop manual, orignal Lotus parts catalogue, which is superb because it shows everything as exploded diagrams, I also have an orignal owners handbook, another workshop manual and a couple of referance books that tell you all about the history/production of the cars. I don't have much in the way of history/receipts of the car, but it is 30 years old and had 9 owners so I'm not surprised that any history/receipts are missing, overall it is a very useable honest classic Lotus, drives well, handles well, and at £4750 not expensive, when you consider a chassis is about £1200+vat alone ! e-mail for pictures peter.lydford@digi.co.uk may p/x cheers
