Support Team Shaun_E Posted February 17, 2006 Support Team Share Posted February 17, 2006 Are spectators allowed at Longcross and if so are there any special rules? Are tickets requried and if so how much? I have a colleague who would like to come along and watch. Yellow SL #
RichardO
Yes - as long at they get there at the same time as competitors (entry closes at about 9am IIRC). But you can't see much as thre is only one place on the course where spectators are allowed, and the course is mainly through trees. R
Mark Durrant
IIRC all spectators must arrive before 9am and thereafter they cannot leave until the last run has been completed. Confirmation of this is will be included in the final instructions but these will not be issued until around a week before the event. This is not a very good venue to spectate, the only point is at the hairpin after the snake, however, there is plently of time to walk around the paddock and look at the various cars competing. Area Representative Richard Price Posted February 17, 2006 Area Representative Share Posted February 17, 2006 If this was your mate's first time at a sprint, he wouldn't want to go to another one after going to Longcross ❗ I guess it's more of a distance, bit I'd encourage your mate to make the trip to Curborough in May. Good spectating and a great atmosphere.
Support Team Shaun_E Posted February 17, 2006 Author Support Team Share Posted February 17, 2006 Thanks for the info. My colleague has attended many sprints and hillclimbs and races a single seater (an old Brabham). He was just interested as Longcross is close, he hasn't been there before and because of it's normal use as a military vehicle testing facility. If he can't leave until the end of the event then that might be an issue but I will let him know the details. Yellow SL #
GTD
It was possible to leave during the day last year, though obviously not to return! I arrived on my own to collect some bits, and was challenged, so might be wise NOT to describe yourself as a spectator, but the deliverer of mechanical support etc to one of the drivers... GTD
PS - Challenged, but nevertheless let in when I said I wasn't just spectating! G for Geoff
KenEvans
Perhaps you should equip him with a crash helmet and he could come out with you on the sighting run (like two drivers sharing a car) - just a thought
RichardO
Ken; it's even easier than that - in previous years SCMC have not required crash hats to be worn on the convoy runs R
robmar
although having done the one last april at mach1, I would recommend it they where more like hot laps that sighters 😬
GTD
You'll certainly trash your sunglasses if you wear them instead of a helmet - there's a lot of grit! G for Geoff
