Adrian Williams Posted February 15, 2006 Share Posted February 15, 2006 Anyone got any bright ideas how to clean the inside of the expansion tank once off the car. I normally fill will gravel and soapy water then shake, it takes a few goes but eventually gets into all the nooks and crannies. Bricol Posted February 15, 2006 Share Posted February 15, 2006 There is a way of making an old plastic tank, stained with 20 yrs of rusty water come up like brand new. Ultrasonic cleaner and a decent aqueous detergent - as I used to design the things, ones on test were very usefull. Get the tank in the water, turn it around to remove all air bubbles and leave for a little while - lift out, drain and rinse - absolutely spotless inside and out. So find someone with one and you're away . . . I don't know waht I'm going to do now I've changed jobs and all the machinery I've taken for granted for 10 years isn't there anymore . . .
