Slick tyre sizes

185/60-13 is around about a 6/21 slick and the 205/60-13 is around and 9/21 slick I believe, I tended to pick up 2nd hand slicks so I've run everything from 6/20 through to 8 or 9/22 on the rear at various points in time.

All the slicks I've used were Avon's but that's because they were mainly 2nd hand R400 ones. If you're interested I've got a a few slicks in the garage with a 2-4mm of tread left on them that you are welcome to have to get started on, they are a few years old but once warmed up should be Ok.

IIRC 7"x 21 front and 8.2" x 22 rear made by AVON

According to Avon (Brian Davies) the R400 control slicks were

Front: 7/20x13 Number - 10998

Rear: 8.2/22x13 Number - 10999

They were an A37 compound

The advantage of using the above size is they are a direct replacement for the 175/55 and 205/55 x 13 CR500 so you would not neet to alter your suspension heights.

Problem is getting hold of second hand ones. New ones are about £450 + VAT

Out of interest I have just bought some Micheline Radial slicks

Fronts 16/53 x 13

Rears 20/54 x 13

A set of 4 costs £100 and I got them from ProTyre.

One of the lads in the club has used them and say they are very good so I thought I would giove them a go. Will probable have to raise the rear a little to get the rake back to approx 15mm. Have also bought some wets in the above size as well

Sorry but I assumed you would relise that at £100 you aint gona get new

yes they are part worn but mine have loads of tread. Quite often part worn are tyrs that may have just been used for qualifying

I looked on ebay today but there did not seem to be many 13". I would rather buy from Protyre as at least you know they are reasonably new and not some old tyres that have been lying in a shet for 5 years
