Sheds Moderator
I have a pair of the std Billies, used condition. Is it urgent? They are in France and need a coat of paint. Fancy making an offer? I don't want huge sums.
Nic Day
Not urgent urgent but after my first run out this year and my loose rear end problems I think it is down to a knackered front shock. I have no idea of what these are worth.... please give me an idea!!! NigelJ
I have a set of adjustable platform widetrack billes that have just come off my 14000 mile SLR.( I've gone AVO) They work ok but need a bit of tlc i.e. they are a bit scruffy but would paint up ok. £40.00? NigelJ
NIc I understand that the billes are the same for both set ups with the widetrack using longer top mounts. I am not an expert so I would check with Caterham Cars or in Tech Talk here for confirmation
Dannyboy
Age of chassis will be critical here. The post 96 chassis uses a longer shock than the pre 96 I believe due to the revised 'anti-dive' front suspension. The widetrack and normal track dampers for post 96 should be the same, with the widetrack spacer removed.
Nic Day
thanks dannyboy - another confusing one!!! I think mine is a post 96. Not 100% sure Silly me thinking this might be easy!!!! Sheds Moderator
Nic, mine came off a 96 1.4 racer, underdash handbrake. Gawd knows length but I can measure them when I'm next in France. (Next 2 weeks) They have done 13k and need a good clean up and paint so £30 the pair + post and they are yours.
Dannyboy
I think....probably wrong tho! Pre 96 - The top wishbone rear mounting and damper top mounting share the same bolt/ mounting. Post 96, the damper and top wishbone rear mounting use different bolts/ mountings, the rear wishbone link is lower than the shock mounting... Summat like that anyhow! 😬 😬 Dannyboy removing the gaffer tape
Nic Day
I think I have found a set of freestyle dampers and springs all for a very good price. I know they will fit as they have come off a car that is the same year etc and should be a straight swap thanks for all the offers Winner of the Largest pair in a non SV 7 (Rumble 2003) here
