Beelzebub
There's a small black thingy that has a rubber cover on top, bolted to the passenger side bulkhead under the bonnet. Only two wires. Is this the inertial fuel pump cut off. 99 K Roadsport. TIA Dave.
Griff
Yes it is. I think it also cuts power to the ignition. Worth moving it to somewhere you can reach it inside the car. If you bump curbs on the track it sometimes cuts the engine - a real pain as you have to sit out the rest of the session! It's not pink, it's medium red violet...! Beelzebub
Good idea Griff. I'll add it to the list 😬
stevefoster
When I fitted mine on going EFI/TB's, I put it on the passenger side tranny tunnel left of the gear stick. Not in the way for passenger but easy to reach. So far only popped the swtiched once - grounded the bellhousing going over a hump backed bridge 2 up a bit too enthusiastically 😳 After coasting to a halt and thinking - what the... think / listen, Ah no fuel pump whirring - just reached over the pressed the inertia switch and carried on Hants (north) / Berkshire club here Area meeting pics here My Racing here
MartinWoodham
it just cuts out the fuel pump if tripped, and not very quickly at idle - with the switch cable pulled off there's usually enough residual fuel pressure to start the engine and run for a few seconds. There's enough wire on the loom to thread it through the grommet at the front of the transmission tunnel and bolt the inertia switch to the bulkhead above and forward of the drivers knee. On my car I can just about reach it at a stretch when strapped in race-tight. A fellow competitor left his in the standard position under the bonnet. After a spin on track the engine cut out and he couldn't restart the car. Marshalls pushed him onto the infield and he sat out the rest of the race.... Tom_C
I've just put mine back under the bonnet. Previous owner had it on the tunnel as described by Steve, but I found it was getting in the passenger's way (quite a large passenger, and shortened footwell). YMMV, but on mine the connector cable was cut to move it and then again to put it back, as the connector block is too lare to easily pass through the grommet. Jason Plato
I've sited mine under the dash . I've had one dodgy switch which was tripped at the slightest bump . And the latest one that is pretty good . Its aslo pretty good as an imobiliser if its sited to hand C7 TOP Powered by Hellier Performance 😬 South Wales AO

Mick Day
Why didn't I think of that? I thought maybe you just gave the switch a hefty wallop 😬
DaveMorris
Could any of you chaps give me a part number or source vehicle for this inertia switch as I want to fit one, tx in advance, Dave Never put off till tomorrow what can be enjoyed today 😬
MartinWoodham
Tom C, sorry, forgot to mention - yopu need to take the connector pins out of the connector block and feed those through, then put the block back on afterwards, otherwise it won't fit.... Tom_C
Or cut the cables, not knowing the block comes apart, then crimping back together with insulated connectors 😳 Cheers Tom FH54WLX - only the car supports ManU, honest! Griff
I thought you had to short circuit the socket to make the engine run? If you just pull it off then the circuit is cut and that kills the engine. Could be wrong - memory isn't what it was and too cold in the garage to go check It's not pink, it's medium red violet...! Chris W
Griff The trip unit only cuts the power to the fuel pump not the ignition. (Obviously the engine will cut out due to no fuel after a few moments ) Chris 2003 1.8K SV 140hp see it here

h_____
you can just give them quick bang and they trip, I too have used as an immobilisor. A sharp tap with the hand is all it needs.
