Neal Worth
You could try leaving the engine as it is and spend the budget on going fuel injection? May not add any power to the top end but would certainly help with torque and driveability.
MarcNS
Thanks, I have some 888's and I'm a great driver 😬 So I think the lucus ignition and an exhaust are going to do the trick But it's blown the budget 😳 so need to look 2nd hand. If the price goes too high I may as well drop a better engine in In the short term, I guess the carbs have to come off to do anything with the dizzy ? alextangent
Megajolt? Better than a dizzy so I hear. I'm going that route this summer. Carbs off for removing the dizzy, and the manifold is best coming off as well. If you don't want the hassle of refettling the carb balance, remove as a unit from the manifold. Drain coolant, number & unplug plug leads, remove carb filters, accel spring, disconnect accel cable (note the side of the steering shaft/clutch cable it travels on so it doesn't foul or go through small radius when reassembling), remove manifold (skinned knuckles guaranteed). A new gasket is a couple of quid from a motor factors. Alex McDonald A loud 1700 SS
