caterhamnut
Trying to trace a fault, which may or may not be the fuel pump - anyone got one lying around that I can borrow to swap over and try it out? alan7
Angus I've got my petrol tank out at the moment so I could take the ptrol pump off & let you have a play with it. I'm in South Wales but will be in Bristol on Saturday meeting sprog who is then going back to Uni in Northampton Saturday night. Any good? How do you get the dead flies off your teeth....... 😬 R5AAH Edited by - alan7 on 13 Jan 2006 12:20:
caterhamnut
Hi Alan - many thanks for the offer - it might be a plan, but geography precludes anything this weekend I think! I'm alos going to evaluate if I can actually get my pump out of the tank without damaging anything - probably hasn't moved for 10 years and 90,000 miles - a bolt head is bound to snap off!! www.mycaterham.com here 88,500 miles -1st 1.6k Supersport, '95 Motor Show car
alan7
OK Angus Give me a shout if you do get stuck. Lashings of WD40 & let it soak for a few hours may help 😬 but you may need a new gasket cos that's what makes it petrol tight & as you say it's been under compression for 10 years & a good few miles. Mick Day
Angus My pump is out & I will be rebuilding with an R500 pump. I'll bring it along to the WH on Thursday. James Whiting does an uprated pump gasket ; it's a bit thicker so I suppose it doesn't leak; I hope! caterhamnut
Hi Mick - done the classic and posted on the wanted section, then completely forgetting to actually check the replies!! Thanks very much for the offer - I am leaning towards the fuel pump being the issue - Mark has done the same thing as you, so I am going to try his as I will need to take the car to his place to try and get ours out anyway, if you see what I mean!! Thanks very much for the offer though - if we can make it, we'll hopefully see you at Wotton on Thursday! cheers angus www.mycaterham.com here 88,500 miles -1st 1.6k Supersport, '95 Motor Show car
