Mim
Armed with a brand new engine hoist I am about to attempt the removal of my Vauxhall 2 ltr in order to inspect the rear main oil seal. As a first timer I would welcome any advice. I have drained oil and water and now in the process of removing external components. I assume I can leave the bell housing and gearbox in situ? Rob Morris
You can either leave or take the box out with the engine. Don't for get to remove the LH diagonal engine brace. The RH one can stay in! Make sure you have enough height on the hoist and ground clearance under the vehicle to allow the lump to swing as you raise. Also allow for the engine being very heavy, which if not controlled will damage your car! Any questions give me a call (1952) 242786 evenings.
