Alexander Gurr
Due to impending marriage and travel commitments I am selling my beloved 7. The car is a completely original and beautifully kept example of the original Caterham 7 Superlight, built in 1997 as car number 46. The specification is as follows: - 1.6 k-series (138bhp) - Aluminium body - Carbon fibre front wings, rear wings and nose cone - Black pack - Composite Tillet seats with 5 point harnesses - Quick release Momo steering wheel - Carbon dash with BRSB - Windscreen and doors - Heater - Quick rack (7%) steering - Wide track front suspension - Big Brakes - Caterham 6 speed gearbox - Limited Slip Differential - 13” wheels with Yoko A048 tyres - Apollo oil tank (critical for track days) - 4-2-1 Competition exhaust (sound tested at 97db so fine for most track days) This is as close to a standard spec Superlight as you can get given that no 2 cars are ever really the same. Also available, with price to be negotiated, are a JPE carbon fibre aero-screen and Caterham half doors with SPA mirrors. I want to sell these with the car if possible, but would consider splitting them if the new owner did not want to take them. The car has covered just over 23,000 miles. It is MOT’d until September 2006 and is Tax’d until March 2006. I have spent over £1,600 having the car fettled over the last 6 months at the 7 Workshop. Those of you who know Chris will know that he is incredibly thorough and has given the car a complete going over. This includes: - New clutch - Replacement CRB (a known problem on 6 speed 7’s) - New steering rack - Heat shielding the starter motor (another common 7 problem) - Full service (all fluids) I have had the car for almost 2 years now and have been obsessive about the way I have treated it. I have really tried to use the car as much as I possibly could (covering 13,000 miles in 2 years), thus you will not find any of the niggling problems you often get with little used examples. I have cleaned and polished it as much as my girlfriend would allow, which is not as much as I would have liked. This really is an incredibly honest and very well cared for example of one of the greatest 7’s around. £14,999 Call: 07887 585954 for more details and pictures if required. Alexander Gurr
I guess it is not exactly an ideal time of year to sell, but not even a sniff I am happy to wait until March when I guess the market will pick up a bit more, but it would be good to see the car go to a good home before then. Alexander Gurr
I guess the market really is flat at the moment, I was at least expecting people to try to take first dibs at the aeroscreen and half doors (which I really want to go with the car) If I doesn't go by the end of the month I think I will be taking it for alittle outing off to the Nurburgring 😬 BTT 😬 Superlight no 46 12,000 areroscreen'd miles in 18 months
John Howe
Alexander, I think you might have more interest if you dropped your price to around £12k. ... but have BTTT on me and good luck JH Deliveries by Saffron, the yellow 230bhp Sausage delivery machine
Alexander Gurr
Is £12k really the going mark for a Superlight 🤔 If it really is only worth £12k then I think I will keep it, because to me it really isn't worth selling at that kind of money Appreciate the comments though John Superlight no 46 12,000 areroscreen'd miles in 18 months Edited by - Alexander Gurr on 25 Jan 2006 12:05:
Jenson Button
It's worth more than £12k easily IMHO.
Mike Molloy
Hmmmm. On the minus side it is a nine year old car and only cost 17.5K new! Plus it doesn't have the rarity value that something like a BD or JPE would have to keep the value high. On the positive side the bare ally/carbon livery of the original SL is lovely. Re-advertise after the first sunny dry weekend of spring and it'll sell a lot easier!
EFA
I agree with CT. The SL was the first decent K series engined car Caterham ever made. Bouncy Castles at track days anyone?
Rob Morris
Looking at the pictures and not wanting to start trouble, but..................she is clean but far from mint which is where I feel you have priced her. 😳
Alexander Gurr
I appreciate the comments, whichever way you feel 😳 I think that the car is in very good condition for the age, but I agree that it is not mint. It is in very good condition - my right forearm shows the signs of all the polishing 😬 and has been properly maintained. Maybee I am asking too much, but I am prepared to be negotiated with. Having said that if I am only going to get offers around £12k then I would rather keep the car, as it is worth more than that to me. I think I will just wait until the sun starts to poke it's head out 😬 Superlight no 46 12,000 areroscreen'd miles in 18 months

Steve Robinson
Alex - I agree that £12k is too low. I was in the market for this spec to take sprinting back in October and ended up paying around the £12k mark for a Roadsport A instead of a Superlight. Assuming yours is in good condition I would have been looking to pay around the £14-£15k mark with the screen and doors thrown in. If i'm honest the lack of paint might have put me off, but I would have thought you should be able to get £14.5k once the sun begins to shine. Don't let people take the p**s on price because you want to sell, i've had that before and always regret not saying no and waiting for a proper offer.
