Geoff Johnson
I have decided it is time to replace my rock hard michelins with those nice Yoko 021's the query is:- Vauxhall HPC Carb, running on standard 5 spoke wheels (anybody know the size off hand) what are the smallest tyres I can put on the front, to cut down on tramlining, & then what are the best on the rear so the attitude of the car doesn't change. I gather that changing the wheels to 13" would be better, but also much more expensive to do the lot & probably look very small under my flared front wings. Rob Morris
I'm going to junk my 15" Prisoner wheels and Michlin tyres in favour of 13" Minilite and 21R's. Once you have tried these as a combination there is no going back! P.S. car is Vauxhall Carb. Be careful of the sump!
old captain slow
Alex Wong wrote about trying 205's on the rear and narrower ones on the front. Alex, did you try this combe at Curborough? Any feed back?
Alex Wong1697456877
Tried 205 rear and 185 front ACB10's on my Seven - Absolutely fantastic. Four wheel drifts, oversteer, understeer... whatever you want, the car has never felt this balanced. I ran 0.5 degrees camber at the back and 1.5 degrees at the front. Only problem is ride height (they're 50 profile tyres on 13inch wheels) and tyre life so I'll be saving them for track use only. old captain slow
Thanks, Alex. I'm just about to get 13" wheels for the track (16" at present) so I might try your combination as your car certainly looked the bizz at Curborough. Many thanks for a great day out.
