Headlight Alignment

BM

Recommended Posts

Distance shouldnt be that critical - I did mine by lining up the tin top about 2 metres from the garage doors, marking the centres of the beams on the door and the position of the light/ bumper on the driveway. Then I put the 7 in the same position and adjusted until the lights fell on the same marks.

Its not the days in your life ..........But the LIFE in your days!! ;0))

Sandy,

The only way that'll work is if the centers of the headlights are at exactly the same hight on both cars.

Imagine that the height of the tintops headlamp is at 60cm, the Caterham at 55cm. If you then adjust the light to be at the same level the Cat will enlighten the Moon!

In general the light has to fall by one percent, some cars even 1.2%...

Get them set up at a garage, shouldn't cost too much. Then put the car a car's length away from the wall & mark on the ground the 4 wheels & also the beam cut-off points on the wall. Easy to check another time then.

I have a tandem double garage so my marks are on the inside of the door.
