Jason Plato
There is a very interesting article on the history and development of the Millington Diamond engine this month. Anyone fancy 315bhp for 85Kg @ £18,000 - PeterT you reading this 🤔 The weights of other common tuned engines is listed together with comparative bore / strokes. All in all a good read and a great engine . The only thing that wasnt listed was the rebuild times - I understand its in the region of 20 hours [Gulp££]
Mike Bees
Arnie was going to put one of these in K2RUM many years back. Would be a bit of a belter. I'd still rather have and RSTV8 though (if it could be done without the bonnet scoop that is...). Mike
Mike Biddle
Mike, you probably could fit an RST V8 without the bonnet scoop, it would just require filtered air ducted in from somewhere else.

blade_runner
surely the RST V8 is cheaper and has far greater longevity, more horse power and even lighter weight or am I missing something? 'Pinky Pics' here
Peter T
I think i would want a pedigree engine for that money. The RST and any of the V8 motor cycle variants have really not been extensively proven yet. It takes a milestone for engines like the Millington to get there, also in this group would be the BDG,DFV, FVA and so on. All race derived engines. 😬 Carbon Components Here K9 Composites
rgrigsby
I also suspect that whilst the 2.0l RST V8 maybe cheaper for the basic engine by the time it's installed you're going to be looking at a much bigger bill, the 2.4l engine is more I think. peterg
Oh and don't forget, with the Millington your buying heritage too 😳 😬
Peter T
Ohh yes, the names of Roy Millington, Brian Hart, Keith Duckwoth, Mike Costain. and so on who built or designed the RST ??? Carbon Components Here K9 Composites
edmandsd
It's a YB with an alloy block and YB's aren't the best n/a 2lt by any stretch of the imagination. 85kgs is just bollox - would mean that the iron blocked equivalent is c 105 kgs which it aint, 120 more like. And then we get to the bit about 315 bhp yawn.... Home of BDR700
Peter T
Ok Dave, i know that. 315bhp i b*ll*x in a road car on pump fuel. Carbon Components Here K9 Composites

Jason Plato
Have you read the article Dave E ?? It states that the original Millington was based upon the YB but now they have a redesigned block and they have designed their own heads with improved valve inclination and ports Why dont you believe that the 2.5 millington can produce 315bhp ?? 🤔 🤔
edmandsd
I haven't read the article. I didn't realise it was a 2.5lt. Home of BDR700
