Which are the differences : minator/superalite

I cannot see any differences on photos between :

 

superalite and minator

Eric, I think that the differences are weight and aspect ("finitions"), the superlite being superior.

Personally, I prefer the minators. The finish is better and they just look better made. Both are good though.

earlier this year I had a set of each, both brand new and the physical differences where minimal, the biggest being that the 'spokes' in the minators where not as pronounced as the superlites, in that they didn't stick out as much. Does this make any difference to performance? I do not know

 

the finish on them both seemed comparable, however the minators had a crappy plastic cover for the middle of the wheel whilst the superlites had an almost crappy metal cone

The Caterham parts dept claimed they switched to Minator beacause Superlite weight quality control went up the pictures so that sets of wheels were beyond acceptable weight variations - I have no idea if this is actually true.....

If you want minilight style wheels that are really good go for Panasport wheels.

6x13"= 4,853kg

7x13"= 5kg

And they have a perfect finish.

Only yesterday I asked John Vicker at Millwood (01453-544321), the Caterham dealers in Gloucestershire, about a set of 'minilite' clones.

 

He said that he could supply a set of genuine Minilites (2x6" and 2x7" or 2x8") with polished rims and black centres for £365 + VAT.
